I am on vacation in Philadelphia this week. Traveled from King Of Prussia into city on train and what did I see but Temple. Now I had at first thought of getting off train and looking at the school then I remembered what I had always heard about the area it is located in. It is true, Temple is located right in the ghetto of Philly. Nobody would get off to see it, you might not make it back alive. A fine university to be in the mac. Thank goodness mac football and basketball games are not played on campus.

One weekend a friend of mine (who went to OHIO and just got his M.Ed from Penn) and I went to a party at Temple. We got out of the cab and immediately regretted our decision. We didn't stay long.

I'm currently interning at the City Planning Commission though and I will say there are some pretty ambitious projects planned for the area. Gentrification has been under way in all parts of the city, though North Philly has been a little slow to see development. It's coming though (though hampered some by the current economy).

P.S.- If you want a good cheesesteak skip Pat's and Geno's. I'd hit up a little known gem in West Philly called Colonial Pizza. They have HUGE cheesteaks that are so meaty and so cheesy you'll feel like you're in heaven. It's located at the corner of 43rd and Pine.  Also, Koch's deli (on Locust between 43rd and 44th) has amazing deli sandwiches and gives away all kinds of free samples while you're waiting. Finally, if you are going to hit up Reading Terminal Market stop by Hershel's for the best brisket you'll ever have. No joke.

....but MAC BB games ARE played on campus.

Pity. You couldn't publish 7 sentences without demonstrating your ignorance. OU must be proud.

Well forgive me, I didn't know they were. Too bad for any fans who have to visit that h*** hole to see any sporting event. I was at Valley Forge today and the soldiers had better living conditions then you do in that ghetto.

well even though I had to pass temple it was well worth the trip. Valley Forge, Independence Hall, a buggey ride in Lancaster, Gettysburg, &  Antietam tomorrow. Add to that I can say I visited 3 cities that have been the nations capital(York and Lancaster I found out on this trip served in that role) and what more can you ask for in a trip? Philly is a great town and I was able to climb the Rocky steps,(only ran about 6 or 7.) Well worth going too if you ever get over toward Philly. Oh leave your wife at the King Of Prussia mall and she won't care what you do.

You pretty much have to make an out of the way trip if you are traveling from King of Prussia to Center City to get to Temple.. In fact there isn't a train that goes from King of Prussia to Center City.

But yes.. Temple is a city school in parts of town that aren't the best.. That's real life. People actually live there.. but go ahead an disparage them... sounds like you  needed to visit Villanova.

He probably drove to Conshohocken and took the R6, which would take him right past Temple.

Living condintions in Athens County outside of the immediate city area are as bad. Families living on their porches, underage girls walking around with babies. Make a trip to the Plains and Glouster next time you're in the Athens area and see for yourself.
