Last night convinced my bride of 23 years to enjoy a (2 month early) anniversary trip over the Labor Day weekend.  Told her I have read wonderful things about this town in NM.  She's excited about it...but has no idea that a Bobcat football game is involved.  Might be pissed.  Might be somewhat amused.  When do I 'fess up?

After 45 years, I just go myself.  I can't get away with any last minute surprises.

SBH:

Come on, she knows you too well not to have checked the football schedule!

Since "Switz" lives in that part of the country, have him get some tickets and tell your wife you guys are also going to see Switz while you are there.  You can then blame Switz for making you go to the game.

I have never been to Las Cruses, New Mexico so I don't want to be mean (I'm sure it's a great place), but I can't help but wonder why your wife didn't ask you why you are going on vacation there. She must be suspicious.

This is all just coming full circle. I think SBH tricked his wife of two-plus decades to the altar by telling her he was taking her to an Indians game.

New Mexico is a beautiful place and there is lots to see...so keep her entertained during the day, and when evening rolls around...oh, by the way!

Honey, State College, PA is considered THE place to spend your 24th anniversary!  I'll make reservations right now for next year so we don't miss it!

State College is easy because it's a stopping point on the drive to a second honeymoon in the Poconos.

I got a feeling Mrs. Hoagy may have already found tickets to the Las Cruces Community Theatre production of Neil Simon's Plaza Suite for Saturday evening.
