It seems I'll be going to the football media day on Saturday. The objective of doing so is to serve fellow BobcatAttackers, so I'd like to know what anyone wants. There is a press conference portion with Solich and then one-on-one interview opportunities with players. What questions do  you want asked of Solich? Any questions for the players? What players would you like to hear from? Is there something specifically you'd like to have featured for a story? I certainly can't guarantee I can get all the answers, but I'll do my best.

What players look to strengthen the safety position?

What true freshman have a chance to provide some depth?

Any new return guys?

How is the no huddle working out?

How do you feel about the recruiting so far this year?

Will we still have weekly football programs on Sports Time Ohio?

How is Keller moving?  How quickly?  How aggressively - or tentatively?

What are your early impressions of Vick and Bell?

What players seem to be demonstrating on-the-field leadership?

With Jeff King injured and status unkown, is there any thought given to moving an aggressive OL such as Vince C. to the DL?

Do any of the RB's stand out so far?

Will we name a starting QB and stick with him if one guy earns it? (Who is it going to be?)

How many points do I have to give a Turd fan to extract his money?

With little veteran depth on the D-Line, are there open spots on the depth chart that all the newcomers are competing for?

Our run defense has been generally good over the years.  How big of a concern is getting qb pressure?  What's being done to ramp up your qb pressure?  What's the philosophy on blitzing?  Mostly man or zone coverage in the secondary--and what's the reason for the choice?

OK some of these questions were answered. Obviously, there's only time for so many questiions. But here is what I got.

What players look to strengthen the safety position?
Didn't really get a chance to ask this one. Frank mostly just said he thinks the players there are talented, even if they are not exeprienced.

What true freshman have a chance to provide some depth?
Frank would not name any players specifically, but he did say he would expect 1 or 2 or 3 true freshman to get time on the D-line. Carl Jones said the freshmen look good, and in particular, he likes Crutcher.

Any new return guys?
Frank talked about Brazill and Carrie. Brazill talked about being really excited to be returning punts again.

How is the no huddle working out?
Solich said he is excited about it and he thinks the team has the chance to be explosive. The players of course are all excited about it too.

How do you feel about the recruiting so far this year?
Nothing was mentioned of current recruiting, but Frank said after seeing the players in this year's freshman class, it has confirmed his belief that it was the best recruiting class yet.

Will we still have weekly football programs on Sports Time Ohio?
Nothing on this, but Solich said "Relentless" is going to be a great recruiting tool.

How is Keller moving?  How quickly?  How aggressively - or tentatively?
Keller said he is 100 percent over the previous injury. However, of note, he did not practice Saturday morning. Didn't find out why, but Solich said injuries have been a big problem so far with lots of small injuries that have caused guys to miss a few practices.

What are your early impressions of Vick and Bell?
Solich deferred talking about individual freshman to the assistant coaches and I did not get a chance to talk to them.

What players seem to be demonstrating on-the-field leadership?
He said there has been a lot of leadership and that is the reason for seven captains, as voted by the players.

With Jeff King injured and status unkown, is there any thought given to moving an aggressive OL such as Vince C. to the DL?
He said King could be out 4-6-8 weeks and they aren't quite sure if surgery will be needed yet. No talk of being any one else to the D-Line, but Brian Albrecht moved there at the start of the summer and he seemed to do well in the limited among of practice time I saw.

Do any of the RB's stand out so far?
He said Harden would be the starting RB if the season were to start right now. He also said he wants to avoid running back by committee like last year. He wants one guy to step up and be "the guy" even though he has confidnece in Harden, Boykin and Blankenship.

Will we name a starting QB and stick with him if one guy earns it? (Who is it going to be?)
I think everyone knows the answer to this now. Tettleton was named the starter and they intend to stick to it.

How many points do I have to give a Turd fan to extract his money
Although Frank admitted to being a little less reserved than usual, I'm not sure he would have answered this question.

With little veteran depth on the D-Line, are there open spots on the depth chart that all the newcomers are competing for?
Solich said one or two or three freshmen probably will see time on the D-line. As I mentioned above, Carl Jones pointed to Crutcher as being the most impressive of the guys to him on the D-line.

Our run defense has been generally good over the years. How big of a concern is getting qb pressure?
Carl Jones said it is an emphasis, as the run defense has been good recently but pass defense has been somehwat of a struggle.

What's being done to ramp up your qb pressure?  What's the philosophy on blitzing?
Didn't really get a chance to ask about this unfortunately.

Mostly man or zone coverage in the secondary--and what's the reason for the choice?
Or this either. But in Frank's mention of the secondary he did say there is even more speed than usual and pro-potential talent.

Appreciate the info!

I was very intrigued when I saw they moved Albrecht to DE.  In a 4-3 scheme I think he is certainly big enough to play the position while using his speed to his strength to get around tackles.

Also on the D-Line, I'm really hoping Tremayne Scott has a breakout year and gives QB's nightmares.

With regard to this -- Relentless will be airing on STO, it looks like in the Bobcat Blitz slot.  Bobcat Showcase, which is replacing Bobcat Blitz on WOUB, according to the WOUB release, will be on WOUB and Fox College Sports (though it will also be made available online).  I do not believe Solich will be a major part (if even a part) of this show.

The radio coaches shows are available online, too, for anyone looking for that sort of content who is unaware.

Good info, UpSan, thanks!
