So long as the coaches aren't wearing WWJTD bracelets.

The bracelets were courtesy of Rife's Tatoo Parlor:

Football players wearing bracelets, earings and pony/pigtails/braided hair, what would Vince Lombardi and Woody think of that?

In a related story, OU players will be wearing bracelets in remeberance of Brian Knorr.  As a student from 2001-2005, I'll never forget that 11-35 record.  At least Knorr compiled his record with integrity!

They will not be bracelets, they will be repurposed fast-food chain novelty crowns.

Looks like the bracelets have been recalled.   Don't you just love the bs about possibly being an NCAA violation.  What school do these PR folks go to to learn to make up such ridiculous stories?

The A&M money machine probably put a stop to it as they weren't getting any royalties from the sales.

This story just gets better and better! Can you imagine how OHIO would be raked over the coals by the Columbus Dispatch if it were the Bobcats in trouble? I say death penalty! LOL

Just goes to show that (1) this went deeper than Tressel and he's taking the bullet for the program and (2) the arrogance at O$U is incredibly pervasive.

The kids whom he recurited are showing loyalty, don't think the kids gathering around Peden Stadium wouldn't stand for Frank. The players love their coaches, that is one reason they've won so many games, their kids care! And I use their for both Frank and Jim, as the are loved by their players and there is nothing wrong with that!

But the bracelets were sold by a STAFF member, which puts it at a completely different level.  That shows little regard for the seriousness of the situation and  little respect for Fickell.  Despite his apparent regard for Tressel, his job is going to be tough enough without staff outwardly supporting the guy he replaced.

Had I been recruited by Tressel and promised all the perks associated there in, I'd probably want a bracelet or key chain or tattoo or something to show my loyalty to the guy that would lie to the NCAA to keep me eligible regardless of what I did.

The brackets were sold by a person associated, not a staff member according to the reports I read. Oh well doesn't matter because we all know that the NCAA is about to drop the hammer and there may not even be football in Columbus. I am sure the NCAA is adding this to the tons of other things in this corrupt program.

Want to bet?

OSU has been anally probed and the result: Players traded trinkets for tats or small sums of cash and Jim Tressel found out about it and only spoke to the players and a mentor about the situation.

The OSU meeting with the NCAA lasted 3 hours.

OSU violated five NCAA bylaws. USC violated 31. OSU, the institution, self-reported. USC withheld and denied. The NCAA is dependent on self-reporting or media discovery because they do not have the means to police and investigate all possible violations. Thus, it rewards self-reporting and cooperation.

Read these articles on the subject if you'd like something more than TMZ level rumor mongering and mudslinging. Though, I doubt you do.

Who did Benard Thomas play under in college?

He is implicated in the Miami fiasco.

I realize it is no fixed raffled or trinkets for tats, but Miami could be in some trouble. It might even make Sportscenter.

Slightly more ironic than Gene Smith being considered for a similar NCAA post. The only difference between the U and A&M is the source. If Talbott would sing like this guy is, they'd be looking at the same level of allegations that are coming to Miami.

Except Talbott is and has been broke for quite a while. Also, the allegations from an anonymous ex-friend included Pryor signing autographs for anywhere from $20k to $40k (nice estimate) total. Further, an anonymous country club employee spoke of a couple players playing golf. He said OSU was contacted. The players never returned.

The Miami allegations include $50k+ payments to multiple players, smaller amounts to scores of players, numerous coaches involved, prostitutes, bounties (including to injure), and a booster who is also connected to an agent.

Antonio Henton was eventually booted from OSU for trying to buy his own prostitute. Wonder why he would bother if they were being provided for the players? Why were players selling their hard-earned awards for below FMV if they had a steady cash-flow from a booster? Yeah, it doesn't make sense.

If you know the allegations would rise to the level of Miami, why not chirp all your inside information to the NCAA?

Fools jump to conclusions. Smart people approach all claims and allegations with a healthy dose of skepticism and neutrality.

I'll sit back and see how the Miami situation plays out, but at least Yahoo provided financial documents, corroborating witnesses (some anonymous, some not), and photographs.

SI and ESPN provided a single anonymous source and they have been digging in and around Columbus for months.

Edit: Made a mistake between the SI article and the ESPN articles.

Typical A&M apologist...Haven't heard boo out of you since March and now that you're under the delusion the self imposed sanctions might fly, you've crawled out from under the rock.

I fail to understand what the difference is between $40 K and $50 K but whatever lets you sleep at night. My "conclusion" is that O$U's program is dirty from top to bottom. The Coach's office was notified of issues with Talbott and they didn't return the call but went so far as to "suggest" the players not hang around him. Players parents witnessed money exchanging hands but somehow the entire Coaching staff found a way to ignore it as well as the fact that Pryor was driving a new car every few months. The Compliance office was notified of "loaner" car concerns and "no investigation was warranted". The AD stood before the world and claimed they had failed to properly educate their players on the rules while Pryor was tweeting they absolutely knew what they were doing was wrong. He than reported they had completed an exhausive investigation after Tat Gate and fortunately they don't have a systemic issue. Yet later on the media is able to dig deep enough to find Talbott and the NCAA is still meeting with a Tat Gate source. Not to mention no one thought it was odd that they were missing any of this equipment?? Pryor himself said "they give me what I want". No one from top to bottom in the program you continue to support some unknown reason is remotely capable of telling the truth.

All of these allegations involve multiple players (past and present) and if you believe that not only did Tressel actually fail to inform the Administration but that he was also the only Coach with any knowledge of any of this, then my "conclusion" is that attempting to have a conversation with you is pointless. But hey...You may as well keep turning a blind eye...It seems to work for O$U. Go Bucks...

Yeah 36, I'm with you OSU will probably get a more severe sentence than SMU, if they field a team in 2012, I will be amazed. I even heard on Alex Jones last week that Tressel was even complicit in the News of the World Scandle and that the FBI and Scotland Yard were opening up an investigation.

Not sure who you are speaking to, however I have stated twice on this thread that they will get hammered, and don't discount Alex Jones, he is the man.

At this point only a true lemming could possibly allude to this as a conspiracy theory.

The fact that Miami is now under the spotlight, has given you all the impression that O$U's chances of sliding are better than ever.  There are reasons the investigation is still open and this is just the latest...

Yep, simply because I am not.

And we will see on the penalties, I am not apologist for anything, I simply think some are reacting with the same misguided enthusiasm as the idiot OSU fan.
