In the Dispatch's blog they mentioned us limping to New Mexico with some injuries:

"The Bobcats will be without defensive lineman and captain Jeff King, tight end Troy Hill and linebacker Eric Benjamin of Grove City because of knee injuries. King and Benjamin are out indefinitely and Hill recently had surgery.

Receiver-quarterback Phil Bates has not practiced for almost two weeks because of an undisclosed injury."

Hadn't heard anyone say anything about Phil Bates being out, but maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention.

Frank mentioned Bates being out on his show last night.  With Benjamin out you might look for backup MLB Joe Stefanski getting some pt on the outside.

I've never heard Solich say what's wrong with Bates either. He did go to the hospital a couple weeks ago for severe dehydration and I don't think he's returned to practice since, for one reason or another.

According to whoever writes the team reports picked up by USA Today and Yahoo, it's a blood count issue:

"--QB/WR Phil Bates has not practiced in two weeks as Ohio's medical staff tries to get a handle on a blood count problem with the senior. When healthy, Bates will be a potent weapon as either a running option at quarterback or one of the Bobcats wideouts."
