Any posters on here have a son/daughter in the Rufus Kids Club?

Just wondering how much my four-year-old son would get out of it due to the fact we are 1.5 hours away from Athens and he might get down to 1 or 2 football games and maybe a few more basketball games.

On the other hand, he has become a big fan of Rufus ever since the incident in the horseshoe last fall.

What I'm taking away from this is an obvious lack of commitment on the part of the father.  My kids made it to twice as many home games at that age in spite of things like soccer practice and peewee football - and we live twice as far from Athens. The Bubble Boy saga lives on.

Joining is free. There are a number of events through each season. It's not as if attendance is mandatory. There are opportunities to be a ball kid if able. And a birthday card. And indoctrination.

Last year, you had to get your card punched at events to get your t-shirt at the end of the year. Which is fair, but my son Ben didn't have a chance of getting it.

But again... FREE. And... Mmmmmmm, that's good indoctrination.

Pee Wee football at age 4? 

SBH's response begs the question - How did you trick them into going down to all of those games? Did you tell them you were taking them to Disney World? Chuck E. Cheese?

When SBH told his kids about football game in Athens. (They thought they were going to Disney)
 
Before nursery school football practice on Friday morning
After they woke up from their nap Friday afternoon
Before they left Cleveland
As they neared the stadium each Saturday - they never figured it out - week after week

Both of my boys have attended every game but one in Peden since birth.  They get to travel to 2-3 games on the road each year, too.  This year we will go to NYC for a long weekend and throw the Rutgers game in while we are there.  Each has been in Peden in a Baby Bjorn or the baby carrier.  It has just become a way of life for them and they absolutely love Saturdays in Athens.  Kudos to the Athletic Department for making home games family friendly for both football and basketball.  Tailgreat Park is an awesome atmosphere for kids from 3-18.

In response to the poll, my boys would laugh at the Disney reference.  We went to Disney two years in a row and this year they asked if we could not go there anymore because the rides suck.  They love roller coasters, so they have outgrown Disney.  They would choose OU football over Disney now.  At ages 8 & 10, they have figured out what it took me a lot longer to realize. 

The boys have been in the Rufus Club since its inception.  They get a free t-shirt and a birthday card from Rufus each year.  Other than that, we never do any of the other things that are part of the membership.

Pre Kid's Club, my first season as a season pass holder was designed to get my boys interested in Ohio football.  I swear it rained every game, the whole  that season.  We made them go and sit in the stands with us regardless.

They hate football now and, as adults, I can't get any of them to come with me to a game.
