I was following the BG game last night and their punter blasted one 81 yards at least that is what it was on the internet.  If so that is 9 yards longer than hershey's MAC best 72 yarder last year.  That must have had some roll.

That's crap, Hershey's went way farther, because it went out the back of the end zone

The 81  yarder went into the end zone supposedly as well.  Don't know if it went all the way thru the end zone though. Anyway, you don't get credit for anything past the goal line.

It was a great feat, but it was indoors and in a town that's nearly a half-mile up in the clouds.  Put an asterisk next to it.

It was a rugby style kick with a heck of a lot of roll.  Didn't compare in my mind to Hershey's which had ridiculous hang time, but it was quite a kick.  Their punter did quite a good job, pinning Idaho back very deep (inside the 5) on more than one occasion, and setting up a safety in once instance.

Haven't seen this kick, but I remember Hershey's kick quite well.  His punt went no less than 70 yards in the air from where he was standing, so approximately a 60 yard kick by the book and then eventually rolled about 10-15 yards into the endzone for a touchback.

I believe there was a gif uploaded on here, but that was before the server reset.

That GIF was Burke's.  He probably still has it.  The thread should still be here as well since it was last football season and everything was reset last summer.

Edit:  Here is the thread but the link to the GIF doesn't work anymore.  I don't think Tim deletes anything, hopefully we can get an updated link to the image.

Hershey and Weller both had strong outings tonight putting the foot to the leather.

And Hershey didn't need no stinkin' rugby roll either.

Those high altitudes are worth another 15-20 yards.

If Hershey's was truly 80 then that's a Cat record....from Dave Zastudill's profile page:

Attended Ohio University and was an outstanding punter, leading the MAC Conference in punting all four years of college, including the Bobcat school record for longest punt of 75 yards.

Line of scrimmage was at the 20 and bounced into the endzone for a touchback, so an 80 yard punt with a 60 yard net average.  Hershey was close to the 10 yard line when he booted the ball and it first bounces between the 10 and 15 yard line on the other side of the field.

I may have had a few too many wobbly pops, but I thought that ball left Hersheys foot at the 6 or 7. Rolled about 4 deep into the endzone. I thought I had just seen a nearly 100 yd punt.

Hershey's now in the Ohio record book for the longest punt.

This new punt was a thing of beauty.  I have to think that Hershey will be the next Bobcat NFL punter for sure.  Hang time, distance and an athlete when things go terribly wrong.  What's not to like.
