Good grief your fans are the biggest bunch of girls I've ever seen.  "Quit calling us OU, we are Ohio".......are you serious??    If someone asks me who we are playing this week and I say Ohio they are immediately going to come back with Ohio State?  Then I am going to say nope, Ohio U........either way who cares??????/

Spoken like someone with no emotional ties to their University outside of the football program...

BTW...Every time that chant comes up Saturday night, I'll be looking high and low for a Nittany Lion to appear.  Alas...Even though the chant belongs to them, as many times as I've looked it never happens...

I frequently type "MU" when referring to my own university and it does not bother me in the least.


OU = Ohio University
OSU = Ohio State University
MU = Marshall University

Long story short: There was a lawsuit because Ohio State wanted to call themselves Ohio. We said they couldn't do that because we're Ohio. The court agreed with us (except for certain items like Script Ohio, etc.), but in order for us to retain the rights to "Ohio" we have to actually go by "Ohio" and not "OU". Hence, to satisfy their pretensions, Ohio State added the "The" to their name.

Good try, but I live about 400 miles from Athens. I'm sure my service is much more dependable than that available in the mighty metropolis of Huntington, WV.

Also to herdfan, I think you mean decipher. Ciphering is what you are doing when you attempt to use the English language. Decipher is what you would like me to do to understand your poorly constructed sentences. ;)

That is the thing that makes me hate OSU the most for whatever reason. It shows their arrogance.

There is no need to add "The" in front of your schools name if there is no other school with the same name.

Just a completely ignorant way of "trying" to make yourself sound more important.


How long ago did this lawsuit take place?


PS.. I will GLADLY call you all Ohio every single time from now on if it keeps anything away from Ohio State. I was really hoping for them to get the death penalty because I cannot think of a group of fans that deserve decades worth of losing seasons more than OSU fans.

The lawsuit came about in the 90's, if you ever see any licensed tOSU gear with just OHIO on the shirt you'll notice it is more than likely separated with dashes so as not to infringe on our copyright.

Thank you so much.. man its a good than ima math major cause my godness I just lanterns seem to get this..

No edit I'm leaving lanterns due to auto correct.. but in all seriousness I hate typing it always changes my words but I know basic English and I can thank my mighty Ohio education for that..

We have played a school 87 times since 1908, MU, Miami University.

Referring to Marshall here as MU would be a false assumption that OUr world revolves around you, and is an insult to Miami.

And funny enough, we don't suffer trolls on our porch the week that we play them.

Pains me to support our friendly rivals from Oxford, but in this case, I am happy to defend their honor to your detriment.

You all seem to worry way too much about small issues.

I did not realize that acronyms carried such a large weight.

You have to use what the academic world calls context clues to decipher the meaning of acronyms.

MU = Marshall University
MU = Miami University
MU = Marquette University
MU = Manchester United
...

Who cares.

It has nothing to do with importance.

You are basically saying, "I only use acronyms for things that I deem important"

This is very abstruse to me
