Watching Erland Ahlberg flying above the north end zone at (then) Ohio Stadium, hauling in a TD pass from QB Bill Frederick as  the Bobcats edged the Herd in the final game of the 1954 season, 26-25.
Before the game, as a Boy Scout usher in the west stand, I had been asked by a security guard to deliver a message by hand to Marshall coach Pete Pederson in the Herd locker room.  I believe that he had previously been the Marshall basketball coach as well.

'49 -- Nice to see someone else old enough to remember when Peden was Ohio Stadium.  You younguns can still find that name on the stadium if you look close.  Cross Richland Avenue and stand to right of the Ping Tower and look up.  You'll see the big stone craved with the words, "Ohio Stadium."

When was the stadium renamed? According to wikipedia the former name was "Ohio University's Athletic Plant". That is a akward name if that truly was what it was called

It was called Ohio Stadium until, I think, about 1955, when it was renamed in honor of Coach Peden.  I'm not exactly sure of the date.  I do know it was never called "Ohio University Athletic Plant," except in a generic sense.  That's why it's called the always semi-accurate Wikipedia.

My favorite moment came at a game we played in Huntington.. while I was still in school.

Sometime between 1982 and 1986...

I was there with my buddys that all went to Marshall, so I'm sitting in the Marshall student section in my full Bobcat gear.

We were losing pretty handily; the best thing about the game was our punter.

There was not much to cheer about, so most of the game I was sitting there on my hands....

The bobcats actually made a good play, and I stood up and went wild!

Here comes my favorite part....

One of the Marshall coaches turns around and yells at me: "SHUT THE HELL UP, YOU DAMN IDIOT".

That made my day...

I agree. This is the best half of football against Marshall I've ever seen the Bobcats play. Let's get after them in the 2nd half, and make this all of our favorite memory in the series. Let's dominate Marshall like we have have Miami. This team is damn good. Perhaps the best I've seen since I started following the Cats in 1982. GO BOBCATS!

From Herd Nation: " I would hate to be ohio's defense right now. The beard has to be pissed with that pick. He's going to carve them up now for revenge."
