The uniforms were a hit. I hope there are plans to keep them in the rotation, because they look great.

Oh, yeah, because that's totally obvious and the Russell video that announced the uniforms says that.

Except neither of those things are true.

Also, not a Russell video -- I think our in-house guys did a better job than they would've anyways.

Burke is just wrong on this one.  The unis were a tribute, the players loved them and the team throttled Marshall.  Maybe you couldn't tell from wherever you were during the game, but they looked really nice tonight inside Peden.  I haven't seen Peden that electric since the Pitt game.

Burke isn't wrong. It's his opinion.   Frankly, I didn't like them either especially without changing the helmet.  But after hearing that they were at tribute to Williamson I thought it was a pretty cool idea.  But that doesn't make me like the look any better just the sentiment.  But I also understand that these kind of radical uniform changes are typically well received by the people they are really trying to reach which is the recruits, younger fans and the players. I live in Maryland and thought their new uniforms (since they have 32 combos I'm referring to the ones they used against Miami) made them look like court jesters.  But the buzz they received around the country particularly amongst the younger generation was amazing. That being said I still think both Maryland's and Ohio's new unis are ugly. If that makes me "wrong" so be it.   Loved the way they played in them however.

I personally love the uniforms, and I love how they played in them. Would they look even better with different helmets? Probably, but that's just extra expense. I didn't think these looked gimmicky or cheap, just tough. They also photograph well, as the clean black lines give a nice contrast to the surroundings.

The team played really well in them, too.

I thought the uni's photographed very well!!!!

The kids loved them and that's really what is most important.

Agreed though n the helmets.........they need to change if they are going to wear these.

Loved them. I actually like keeping the helmets the same. We have worn those same helmets for around 15 years. That's "us". No matter what the uniform is, we are OHIO!

Walked into Peden about 6:15 p.m..  Took first look at uniforms and said to Ryan, "I hope they wear those again."

They just might.

The helmet thing would be cost prohibitive, wouldn't it?

Gun metal black with a white OHIO on it would be fantastic, but that'd just escalate in cost, I'd think.

And anything that gets Johnny Cash played at Peden is a good thing.

I've been watching Bobcat uniforms since the 60's and this is the best change in style/color ever. When the team and 110 converged on the field for pregame everybody matched. The upper sleeve design is printed with little OHIOs which you could not see from the stands.

By the way, did you notice that the Maryland helmets were flat black rather than glossy? That was a very different but great look. I wasn't too crazy about the stripe but still, it was different.

An ancient memory just came bubbling to the surface.  It's September 1963, my frosh year.  Wanted an Ohio sweatshirt.  Walked into College Book and bought a short-sleeved design (do they even make short-sleeved sweats anymore?).

It was BLACK.  With a full-body green bobcat on chest.

Kept it for years - holes and all. Finally tossed it a couple years ago.

Johnny's Cash's version of "God's Gonna Cut You Down"...a.k.a. the Jeep song... from American V, which was released after his death.

I thought the helmets looked alright on the jerseys. The crazy thing was the other day I was thinking the one aspect of the program that is missing is killer Uni's like Oregon or TCU. The team looks cool instead of traditional for once.

I've been stewing on this all day:

Someday, we are going to look back on this surprise uniform the same way people talk about Notre Dame coming out in green against USC in 1977.

And I just bought the Johnny Cash song on iTunes.

The person who came up with the idea to play that song... "sooner or later, gonna cut you down"... against a team that has absolutely owned us for a generation... was brilliant and deserves a raise.

+3

I already have a lot of Johnny Cash music, but didn't have this one. It will be part of the Homecoming day mix for sure.

I typically like more traditional uniforms and even though the color scheme was not part of our palette, I liked the black unis on Saturday. For me, it was about the purpose and the timing for the most part.

I was very impressed with how the team approached this game and executed. Now on to the next challenge.

Just FYI...The actual lyric is "God'll cut you down"....not "Gonna cut you down."  But either way I agree...awesome.

Shocking that a gravelly voiced man was not perfectly understood over our high fidelity sound system.

As reluctant as I am to cast myself as a diety, I'm happy to assume the role of cutting Marshall down in this instance.

In the words of my son and his friends those uniforms were "Sick".   The team was absolutely pumped.  They will wear those uniforms for select games not all the time.  I thought the helmet was a good contrast to the uniform but i would also like to see a metal flake dark green helmet.

The photo on the home page makes it look like the uniforms are gray and black. This last photo shows the green, which is a little better. I'm all for jazzing up the uniforms, but please stick to the green and white. It reminds me of when we got new home basketball uniforms in 1978-79. Those had yellow mixed in with the green and white. Maybe cool to some, but not our colors.
