As I watched the game online, from a friends home on Long Island, there were many thoughts that crossed my mind.
1) The spread was 15.5 and it's now in the 2nd quarter and we haven't scored much.
2) Kent has been a tuff team for us but are they better than Rutgers?
3) We moved the ball better at Rutgers, I was there.
4) Had we not turned the ball over 4 time we would have won that game.
5) We were winning the turnover battle with Kent yet the game is so close.
6) That kid Nix is a non factor, just like that kid from Marshall turned out to be.
7) How could we allow them to block both a field goal and a punt?
8) I'm not happy unless we beat the spread.
9) Game over and we won by 7.
As I replayed all these thoughts I began to finally conclude that there are always some teams that save their best for us and Kent is one of them. They may not even go .500 this year but they played better than a .500 team against us.
A win even by 7 points is still a win. We gutted this one out. We were clearly the better team as we forced 4 turnovers.
I then saw the Toledo / Temple score and that one really put our game in perspective. Temple beat Maryland the week before and falls on it's face against Toledo at home.
Every game is different.
On to Buffalo.

number 6-Nix--actually he's number 5 but you had him as your 6th point!

Had the pleasure before kick off to meet Roosevelt's pappy.  He talked about how the day after Thanksgiving Day last season at Kent started out with a long Bobcat drive that ended with a blocked field goal by his son.  (Little did I know that a few moments into the game and it would be deja vu all over again.)

He stated that the young Nix has a bad wheel, one of his feet is quite painful and only lets him bull rush and not at this time does he have the ability to put any moves on the OL.  The OL did a fine job with him but he probably acted as a decoy considering the accolades Coach S gave him in the pre-game.

Kent was coming on every down and in obvious passing downs gave the OL everthing they could handle.  Few long passes were attempted as OUr QB wasn't often able to remain still in the pocket.  The Kent linebackers were active.  It seems like we needed to run a few tight end drags or button hooks in the middle of the field.
