Check these out.  When might Ohio have been this good, stat wise, 5 games into a season?

Sacks by us and KO return coverage--not so good. 4th down conversions against us and redzone defense very good.  Only Keller (at about 47th) among top 50 in tackles seems to attest to depth.

Maybe as soon as '09, when Theo, Chris Garrett and Lavon were cranking up the offense and Noah, Gerald and Patrick Tafua were firing up the defense.  They were 3-2 after five games and had big early games against North TX, Cal Poly and BGSUCKS.  Interestingly, the D led the nation in takeaways that year (17 fumbles and 20 INTs).  This year's team is on a pace to beat that; 16 takeaways (12 INTs and 4 fumbles) in 5 games would put them around 38 for 12 games.

I'm not sure you can read too much into this since we have had the 146th ranked schedule in the country(Sagarin), worse than anybody but EMU in the MAC.  And just 1 place below Wofford.

I can. 5 games, 11 lost fumbles. One of the worst kick coverage units in the country. Now apply bad schedule, =weaknesses^2

Fix those two, 5-0, convincingly. THEN you can apply weakness of schedule...

Of course the schedule doesn't cover everything.  The fumble thing is a bad sign against anybody.   Kickoff, the same.  Most of the other 100 or so categories will fit my schedule thing pretty well.

True, but three of the five teams so far on the schedule have ROAD BCS wins.

NMSU = Road Big 10 Win
Marshall = Road Big East Win
Rutgers = Road Big East Win

Not great teams but still coveted BCS Road victories-

Future Games:

Ball State = Big 10 Win
Temple = ACC Win

Almost half the schedule has road victories vs BCS teams.  There have been many past schedules with far less results.

Very good point, DC.  This schedule is not quite as weak as it appeared before the season started.
