Topic: TCU, the Big East, and a Question Sure to be Misconstrued

So TCU is leaving the Big East. They leave the league with as many Big East conference wins against teams with winnings records as Temple has in the MAC. Except TCU never played a Big East game.

Anyway. This leaves the Big East with eight teams, two are leaving, and they need eight to maintain AQ status.

Ignore the fact that when it adds two horrible teams, the other AQs are going to figure out a way to write them out of the BCS feeding trough.

We know one team is a virtual lock. And we wish them the best in their future endeavors.

So who's the other?

I think WVU leaves anyway, which will break up the conference for good.  WVU will take the first train to the SEC.  With the SEC at 13 teams (with the addition of A&M) they will add a 14th school no matter what they are saying publicly.  WVU would be a great fit in football and basketball.  WVU's departure would mark the end of the conference, at least from the football side.  I think the conference is done, especially as an AQ, well before Temple ever has a chance to join.

WVU is gone.  If I were Big East Commish, I really think I'd invite Marshall and Toledo.  That might keep Cincy satisfied.

I think the SEC takes Mizzou before WVU. JMHO. Then WVU goes to the Big 12 with Louisville and maybe Cincy. None of that makes much sense to me.

I doubt it.  When was the last time either team was on Cincy's schedule?  Assuming things stay as is, I doubt that WVU would go for Terd in the Big Least.  Instead, I think they'd go for Memphis (football sucks, b-ball's ok, about the same size TV market as 'Cuse) and Houston (good football & b-ball, TV market on par with Pitt).  Cincy & L'ville have ties to both schools through their time with CUSA and (I think) the Metro Conf.  If Mizzou goes SEC, the Big Twel might reach out to Cincy, L'ville, WVU and maybe USF, in which case the Big Least would probably cease to exist for football.  Gee, that would open Thursday nights on ESPN, wouldn't it.

UC and MU had a home and home series in 2007 and 2008 in football and they have a one for one in basketball.  MU also has one for one in football with Louisville with the first game at UL last Saturday. They have a one for one scheduled in football with Purdue and Navy in the future.
