Here is what I would like to see the MAC look like after all of the Conference re-shuffling.  This is for football only because most of the new schools would not bring their basketball programs.

MAC SOUTH

Ohio
Marshall
Miami
Cincinnati
Louisville

MAC EAST

Buffalo
Temple
UMass
UConn
Rutgers

MAC NORTH

BG
Toledo
Kent
Akron
West Virginia

MAC WEST

N. Illinois
Ball State
C. Michigan
W. Michigan
E. Michigan

In my wacky never going to happen world, there would be a two game playoff for the MAC Championship.

Edit:  Forgot that Pitt had already accepted ACC membership, replaced with West Virginia.

Not bad. I think you're reaching on WVU, because they will never accept being in the same conference as Marshall, but other than that it's not bad at all.

I see one major problem with your conference...the name. Many of those schools would never move to a conference called "MAC", nor, really would that be a conference from mid-America anyway. Calling it a re-formulated Big East would be a lot more palatable to everyone.

How about without Kent, Akron, Eastern and Bowling Green?

Two D1 schools around the Toledo area is pushing it. Akron and Eastern speak for themselves. Kent....well....their existence is annoying.

Kent has had the best men's basketball program in the MAC over the last dozen or so years. Someone w/ more knowledge can add other Kent sports that have also done well. Baseball and golf come to mind off the top of my head.

Apologies in advance......but:

We definitely need more threads about re-alignment.

Sorry.  I just don't see anything even close to a piece of evidence that re-alignment will mean anything significant for us.

Focus on tthe legitimate targets:  Vball, field hockey, football, hoops, etc.
