Peden Stadium, also known as Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium since August 2022,[3] is an American football stadium on the campus of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Situated on the banks of the Hocking River with a seated capacity of 28,000,[4] Peden Stadium has been the home of the Ohio Bobcats Football team since 1929.
Some of the most extensive renovations, though, occurred after the 2000 football season. This $2.8 million project removed the track, lowered the stadium's playing surface by 10 feet (3.0 m), and increased the seating capacity to its current mark of 28,000 with the addition of lower-level, bleacher-back seats collectively called the Phillips Club, plus added capacity of the Sook Center on game days.
Though the attendance for Peden Stadium is listed at 24,000, Victory Hill allows for standing room beyond the listed capacity. As such, the attendance records at the stadium all eclipse the 24,000 mark, and additionally, a potential standing capacity for 28,000 was created when academic center was completed at the stadium's north endzone in 2018.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peden_Stadium#cite_note-4
Peden is 28,000 now? The official game notes from the past few years have said 27,000 so that could be interesting. Is the university still racing toward that magical number of 30,000? Marshall has downgraded stadium capacity to 30,457 as attendance has deteriorated in Huntington. I thought they were knocking it down to 32-33k not all the way down to 30k.
Joan C. Edwards Stadium, formerly Marshall University Stadium, is a football stadium located on the campus of Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, United States. It currently can hold 30,475[3] spectators and includes twenty deluxe, indoor suites, 300 wheelchair-accessible seating, a state-of-the-art press-box, 14 concession areas, and 16 separate restrooms
In April 2023, Marshall began demolition of the South Endzone seating, making room for a new videoboard and concourse area to be completed by the Fall 2023 season.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_C._Edwards_StadiumSo if according to the basketball board the arena addition is going to be 1) Visitor Center, 2) Digital Media Room, 3) Basketball Courts then a second weight room is probably not in the cards for The Convo. Thus the next project will likely be an expanded weight room/performance center at Peden. The Carrin Center at 10,000 sqft was very good size and design for its time but its not on par with the two level weight rooms that are now out there. Buffalo is in the process of doubling their weight room.
Connected to the west end of the Murchie Family Fieldhouse on the North Campus, the 12,000-square-foot, multi-level facility will double the size of the current Morris Sports Performance Center, which will be repurposed.
The facility will feature 18 free weight training racks, a 42-foot, 17-degree turn training incline, a 1,000-square-foot cardio mezzanine, three offices and a conference room, as well as a supplemental nutrition area.
“We look forward to showcasing this facility to prospective student-athletes so they can realize that all their needs in this critical area can be attained here at UB.”
Groundbreaking for the facility is scheduled to begin in spring 2023, with completion expected in spring 2024.
