I like our chances down the stretch. Temple is limping with Pierce not at 100%. They have basically NO passing game. Bowling Green and Central are going to be tests on the road. The Cats will have the East all but in the bag if they can beat BGSU and Temple. Miami at home to end the season should be a layup.

About this time last year we thought Kent would be a layup, too.  The Cats will have to run the table to be in Motown this year, and in order to do that they can't take anyone for granted.

Also, if you'll remember, I pointed out in August that the team picked by the media "experts" to finish fifth in the East has won the division a goodly percentage of the time during the past decade.  That team this year is BGSUCKS -- and here they are, contending for the division and beating teams that were picked to be at the top of the heap (Fiami and Temps).

The Cats can win the next 3 against Temple, BG and CMU and afford a loss to Miami provided the Redhawks enter that final game with 3 losses, about a 90% certainty.

Can I just send out a congrats to Ron English and the EMU staff? They get kicked around and rightfully so, but wow they are playing some really good football. Kinda glad we miss them this year, they scare me.

EMU hitting 5 wins is their best performance since 1995. Its the MAC story of the year thus far. They look pretty capable of winning 7 with Ball State, Kent State, Buffalo left on the schedule. That would be huge for Ron English and sure to get him an extension over in Ypslanti. Showing the improvement in Year 3 is also a very good sign of a program turning itself around once a few recruiting classes are in. English is following the Solich model by recruiting tough hard nosed football players making up for not being able to land the top MAC level recruits. Eastern may never be able to get enough talent to win the MAC outright. A program that can make a bowl once and a while is a great improvement.

I was going to mention EMU here, too, as a real surprise for me this season.  Granted, they have to win 7 to get a bowl bid this season, as they played two FCS opponents to open the year, but it actually seems plausible at this point in late October, by which point they'd be mathematically eliminated most years.

And with EMU playing so well, there's no real patsy in the West for East division teams to count on for a win.  The East is already a minus 8 to the West, and the only win by an East team over the West so far is Temps' win at BSU.  We've belittled them here, but it's good to see some improvement there.
