With 3:00 to go, its 60-56 with over 1,000 total yards and 1,500 all-purpose yards. Neither team has shown a lick of D tonight, not even on special teams. NIU scored on the first two UT kickoffs of the game and UT has returned at least one kickoff into the NIU red zone. Both teams have been pooching kickoffs the entire 2nd half. Although it's entertaining to watch, you get to a point where you wish to God that SOMEBODY'S defense would make a stop.
This game might be higher scoring than either NIU-UT basketball game this season.

The special teams units made it easy on the office. NIU returned to kicks for TDs in the first half and the Huskies already were afraid of Eric Page. So most of the game, both teams were pooch kicking to the 35- or 40-yard lines and giving away short fields. Northern Illinois actually stopped Toledo at like the 27-yard line on the last kickoff after it scored, and it was probably key that the Rockets didn't have another 15 yards of field position then when they needed a field goal like they had the rest of the game.

How does ESPN2 work? I thought it was a national channel--meaning anything on ESPN2 was shown across the nation. Last night, while in Houston, ESPN2 was showing poker (which I cannot believe anyone finds interesting), and not the Toledo game.

The poker was on ESPN. The game was on ESPN2.

Consider last night's NIU-Toledo game a harbinger of what college football will look like if the NCAA continues adding restrictions on blocking and tackling. Think flag football. Ugh!!
