I know that this was mentioned in another thread, but I think depressing news of this magnitude deserves its own thread.  Big East Invites half of C-USA (hyperbole).  I wonder if they'll rename the conference something like the Big East-West Conference, the Big Transcontinental Conference or some such.

Edit: There's one glimmer of hope at the bottom of the article that mentions that Temple could be added in a second "replace WVU" round.  But, I suspect sadly that 'Nova will make sure that doesn't happen.

I'm not sure how you are coming to the conclusion that Temple is definitely out of the running here for the Big East. They are mentioned in the article as candidates along with Memphis. Another thing to grab out of that article is that the commissioner feels like its up in the air yet for some of those schools listed in the BE six-pack to accept. Beyond the six pack the BE needs at least 1 more school to round out the lineup for 12. As of now nobody has joined the BE so I won't call this election until some returns come in.

Uncle Wes, you didn't read my "edit," or you were writing while I was posting it.  To me, it's looking more and more like 'Nova's dislike for Temps is going to keep them out of the "new BE."  Hope I'm wrong, though.

If 2 or 3 of these schools say no, Temple may get there shot anyway.

Governor Christie (R) and Senator Lautenberg (D) have both reached out to Rutgers to offer assistance to find a good home. It appears that they are not happy with any scenarios the Big East could cobble together and want a solid home to justify Rutgers' athletic spending. One could surmise UConn is thinking the same thing. So, BE will probably turn into B-Ball only.

was really hoping Temple would get the nod todau so they would completely full of themeselves tomorrow. Would also ad to more viewers tuning in to watch them get routed by the Cats.

Yep.  Let's give them a distraction for tomorrow night.
