Rick Pitino is talking up the Owls as a Big East team. He seems pretty serious too, having spoken to both the league and 'Nova about the situation. I still don't think that the BE wants the Owls for football, but they'd be a great hoops addition.

He's been doing this for several months, so far no one appears to be listening.

Yea, it's really good to have an "inside" source, like Pitino! Has Pitino gotten the Louisville memo yet that Louisville is BEGGING the Big 12 to take them instead of WVU? I really loved the Pitino comment from a few weeks ago after PITT and Syracuse bolted to the ACC. He likened them to a husband betraying is wife in that PITT/Syracuse "betrayed" the Big East. This is quite rich coming from the guy that "boinked" the Blonde Bimbo in a downtown Louisville restaurant. I'm sure his wife didn't feel "betrayed" though. This goes into you just can't make this _hit up category!

Not only begging, apparently getting Mitch McConnell to lobby for them instead of WVU.

This whole fiasco with the Big Least has given the BL cause to rue the day they got ESPN to feature them on mid-week games. Holtz and May (in the booth instead of the studio) spent a goodly amount of time during tonight's UConn-Pitt game running down the BL "circus" and coming to the conclusion that basically the BL is grasping at straws to avoid the inevitable demise of the BL as a major football conference. Adding Memphis is certainly not going to bolster their sad football image.

Have to agree Pataskala. Holtz was adamant, the BigEast is finished. Someone needs to break that gently to MH55, who is sticking to his guns of weeks ago that Temple's entrace into the Big East is "imminent". I guess it's imminently after the following invitations to such Eastern Locales as:
-Boise ST
-Air Force
-SMU
-Houston
-UCF and the truly Eastern
-Navy
Also MH55 may want to watch his way going in the BigEast door that he doesn't get run over by the stampede positioning itself to get out in no particular order of: WVU, Louisville, Rutgers and UConn. Someone also should let MH55 know that that "automatic" BCS qualifier is going kaput also. The BCS bowls can't wait to rid themselves of that dog of a Big East team and their traveling hord of about a hundred fans.
With the Big East in full all-out They All Look Prettier At Closing mode, they've yelled "last call" and yet MH55's sacred Owls are still "_itch-ugly". How "imminently" embarrassing! I guess when you've previously laid them though the bloom is definitely hard to put back on the rose, and if they were ugly then they've only gotten uglier now! Maybe that's why Pitino's so hell-bent on Temple, it would be fresh stuff to him!
Certainly must commend those esteemed Presidents and Boards of both the Big 12 and the Big East conferences though. They have truly shown themselves as having NO honor amongst thieves.

The more I think of Conference developments benefitting the Owl, the more I also consider black to be very appropriate couture for the death of your 2011 post season hopes.

How much more imminent can you get? My guess is that you'll end up with egg on your face (again) when other conferences tell Temple "no thanks."

Looks like the Big East has made its invitations, but did not officially say to whom. But according to the report, Temple is not invited.

If Temple is not invited, someone better take away the feather boa from MH55 before he harms himself.

I'm more concerned about beating Ohio than the Big East.
