To start out I have to say that I am very appreciative of everything that every group does down there ...but...

I can't help but feeling like there is just something being missed out on....

Obviously I am biased...but I think OU has one of the best locations in all of collegiate sports to tailgate...right along a BEAUTIFUL Hocking river landscape (not some metropolitan Cityscape/parking lot) and this can go for both football and basketball...

But every time I am down there..whether tonight or a weekend game..I feel like I could drive a MAC truck through it without anyone noticing...

Surely there must be a way to get more things down there for families kids and students to do (and yes I did just call you surely)

I for one would love to see more campus oriented events there through on campus clubs or residence life events....and yeah I know the students have a sponsored area on the other side of the stadium...but does anyone else think its weird to have the 2 "tailgates" seperated??

Sorry if this has been posted before.

To be perfectly honest, all the students want is the ability to drink somewhere.  Free food is nice and will bring people in, but the whole alcoholic beverage aspect is a major limiting factor.

I tend to agree...have one spot for ALL the tailgaters and make it a big time environment.  Why break it up?

They should have a "beer garden" so to speak fenced off and you can go in there any purchase drinks. That would be awesome and that would get students involved.

I don't think a beer garden would work.  I have never been to a cheap beer garden and 2/3 of our students are under 21.  Tailgreat Park is built for folks with cars and requires a season parking pass.  Tailgreat could be improved by allowing more folks in the lot.  The cornhole section takes up 4 times as much space as it should.  nobody uses the open green areas for anything.  They have done a great job making it family friendly with all the inflatables, too.  I just wish they would put more people in there.

I miss the old trailgreat - Back 02 or 03 tailgreat was open to anyone, there were GW club tents and one to two corp tents, the rest of the place was full of just fans, their cars and even fans for the other teams. It had a much better party vibe to it.  04 - 05 or so they started putting in more corp tents, limiting everyone to the amount of space, most of the spaces were taken by GW members who didn't want to walk across the street to park and really just killed the fun. Then a year or two later they closed it off to the general public, added even more corp tents, and I've never even walked on that side of the street since.  We moved to the convo lot in 05, then to softball fields lot when they kicked the general public out of the convo. Price we have to pay for the team getting better.

I now have blue lot passes and we still never try to get in tailgreat, I'll stick to my spot by the convo dumpsters. lol
