Not complaining, but an honest question: Did Phil Bates get in Solich's doghouse? Zero touches (and not many in recent weeks) for someone that talented seems crazy.

That's the exact same thing I was wondering.  I saw him in on at least one play, so he's not hurt.  I think he would have flourished in a game like this.

Ain't pretty, but finish those exams and focus on getting to Detroit one game at a time.

All told, a nice win. CMU does have some talent, and only the only teams that beat CMU worse were WMU and Michigan State. The other losses were by 3, 4, 7, 14, and 14. Also, note that they were the only MAC team to beat NIU this year.

Go Cats! Two to go.

I was just a water boy, but I think I recall the coaches telling tacklers to always have their head on the upfield side of the player when striking.  OUr DB's consistently do not and the big receivers bust through a shiddy liddle arm tackle.

Forget Big Manz; give me top rated lock down corners--it is the most important spot on the D.

Other thoughts - in the last 7 games, only Akron held CMU to less than 427 years, and then, not by much, at 402 yards. Also, for the year, only NIU got more yards against CMU, and then, only by a little. Plus the 309 rushing yards was the 2d most they gave up for the year.

That said, just think about all the mistakes. Ohio could easily have won this one by a lot more. They are capable of being a very, very good team, when they are firing on all cylinders.

Hey guys, here's a quick-reaction to the game tonight. We'll have a video up tomorrow morning (our guys are coming back from CMU tonight).

No doubt. Ohio's last 14 plays were all runs. Including two TD drives where the opponent knew you were going to run.

62 rushes for 309 yards...and Ohio wasn't running the triple option.
