I don't know about anyone else, but I am ready for the season to start.

With all what has been available publicly we are looking pretty good.
At this point the QB position is the only question mark. Is Rourke fully 100% ready to go?
I am high on the D after how we played the 2nd half of last year.
So, in conclusion am I just a wishful thinker?

The main questions are on defense. The defensive line is suspect, until it proves otherwise. Can the DT's stop the run? Will the DE's be able to get pressure on opposing QB's? Linebacker has two outstanding starters, but unknown depth. Safety has big question marks. If the defensive line can't plug the holes, the LB's and DB's will have to support the run, making Ohio vulnerable to both run and pass. If the guys up front can't pressure the QB, the DB's, even if good, can't maintain coverage forever.

Last year the defense started the year as the worst defense in the country, but, by the end of the year, they were one of the better ones. I think they will start this year better than last year, but the question is, by how much? I expect them to improve as the year progresses, but by how much? I think Ohio will have to win by MACtion in the first half of the season, but by the end of the year, Ohio will be pretty solid.

I have many questions on defense, but none on offense. Ohio will definitely score points.

I feel good about the CBs. They can potentially go five deep (Birchette, Cox, Parodie, Ryder & JUCO transfer Pearson)

There are a lot of unknowns at the Safety position after losing Drake, Floyd and Sanders. Hoping we get some good production from the two transfers Reynolds (Holy Cross) and Fleming (Minnesota). I feel good about Adonis Williams and how he played last year and the PT that Austin Brawley got should help going forward.

I agree though that the most concerning position is the D-line and the depth. We all know about Vonnie Watkins, Rodney Matthews and have seen flashes from Rayyan Buell but who else will step up? What about Bralen Henderson and Dane Middlebrook?
We also have a few transfers that may be able to make an impact like Tristan Cox (Purdue), Kaci Seegars (Liberty) and Kwame Sutton (Austin Peay). Should be fun to watch it all play out.

Offensively it's insane that we retained nearly everyone.

QBs - Rourke, CJ Harris didn't transfer, Parker Navarro is getting healthy, Wither is learning from Rourke.

WRs - Lost Bostic but still have Wiglusz, Jones, Cross, Tyler Walton is healthy again and hoping for Aramoni Rhone to crack the rotation

TEs - Foster, Kacmarek, Burton and Butler

RBs - Bangura stayed but coming off shoulder surgery, Allison is healthy again, freshman Ricky Hunt has already made an impression in spring ball and looking for some PT this season

OL depth is my only real question / concern.

In the category of waiting to count chickens, I'll believe Allison is healthy when I know he is taking hits and still ok. Would love it if we have him and Bangura as a healthy 1-2 punch.

Our new freshman placekicker has an unbelievably strong leg. Better than Vakos.

That's good news. I assume that he'll be on kickoff duty also then. Any word on how accurate he is.

As we are all looking forward to the season to get underway there are many stats that tell the story of our teams' success; passing TD's, RB TD's, etc.
The one I think is most important is the turnover margin. Last year we forced 2X more then we committed. If we are able to force 2 or 3X more TO's then we should be in a great place to have a successful season.
