The roster has been officially updated with all the incoming freshman and transfers. 2 names that are not currently on it are North Texas Transfer OL Dane Jackson and Colorado State OL transfer Ches Jackson.

But...FWIW, on the list of new numbers there is only one Jackson.

It’s so appropriate for football players to be named Tank and Hammer.

Was surprised to see Jeremiah Burton still listed. According to his twitter, an admissions issue with Slippery Rock caused him to decommit.

Got to have good footing to make it there academically, or you'll fall off the ledge!

I don't think any are shockers. The DE spot is actually the Rush LB spot that McCrory occupied last season. Seegars and Schmitz fit that role. These rosters aren't very well edited either. I just saw Jay Crable at iCryo and I promise he isn't 305. 205 seems a more accurate weight. Austin Brawley will most likely start at safety and remains listed as a CB.

I'm counting well over 100 people on the roster. I have to assume that a large number are non-scholarship players.

Yeah I noticed Crable at 305. He played some QB last year and not too many 305 QBs running around.

Also Cox is not a Freshman. I’m guess he’s a junior according to Purdue info. He’s built up to 265+ and with his athleticism could be a force on the DL.

Transfer Kwame Sutton is not a Freshman. Austin Peay has him as a Senior. He’s got a nice video…was in top 5O of South Carolina high schoolers….goes about 240 with Arnold biceps.

Liberty has transfer Kaci Seegers as a Sophomore not Freshman. He’s a 3 star recruit who has built himself up and can play DE or LB.

115 in total on the roster.

We have 18 WRs listed on the roster... seems a bit excessive. I get that we will lose Wiglusz, Jones, Walton and maybe a few more after this season but still.

Here are a few names who have been mentioned on the recruiting forum that, at this point, are not listed on the roster:
OL Camren Lindsey, signed recruit
OL Ches Jackson, supposed to xfer in from Colorado State
OL Dane Jackson, sopposed to xfer in from North Texas
DE Caden Lockwood, PWO
RB/LB Chase Hall, PWO

Perhaps some of these will still make it this fall, but it seems that everyone else is here, so that is a pretty good year.

I think they just accidentally left the Jackson’s off.

Your accuracy gets a tad tainted when you give a recruit an extra 100 pounds.

I’m not sure Lindsey even signed.

Seems like not only excessive WRs but also PWOs.

Camren Lindsey signed with Alabama A&M.

Looks like an NCAA roster can be from 105 to 125 max. We are currently right in the middle at 115. Several late additions to the 2023 class and transfers makes you wonder about the missing players listed above.

Colorado State transfer has left the team. Apparently he has ended his football career.

Would of been a nice addition and added depth. Fortunately we have 4 of 5 OL starters returning. Will need to replace Meservy at RG and find some additional depth if any injuries occur.

Looks like we only have 16 OL listed on the roster compared to 20 from 2022.

105 until school begins. We cap ours at less than 125.

Looks more roster edits have been made. The North Texas transfer Dane Jackson is listed. Jeremiah Burton is not.

The height and weight changes are always of interest to me. Height is whatever, but I think some players get generous with this. O'shaan Allison apparently shrunk an inch while Mekah Ryder grew two inches. Kurtis Rourke went from 6'3'' 215ish a year ago to 6'5'' 230 - I've actually heard this one is accurate.

Defensive line is key for the season. I feel comfortable with every other position group. Actually, not too worried about DE's, but the interior with the graduation of Caesar and transfers out from McCracken and Daxson are big time losses. Our only guy there with a good combination of size and experience is Rodney Mathews. Buell did some nice things last year but he's not all that huge. Time for guys like Middlebrook and Mayfield to step forward and put some stuff on the field. Kobi Gorman back to DT at about 280. Considering the lack of proven guys there and his recruiting profile and film, I could see him in the rotation this year.

A few other names added to the roster.

Chase Hall - listed as WR but actually an RB?
Dane Jackson - OL
Caden Lockwood - DE
Lucas Stiles - LB
AJ Wilson - RB

Cox has MAC first teamer this year potential. Birchette and Parodie are plenty experienced. Adonis Williams and Austin Brawley got a ton of good run and Mekah Ryder got his feet wet. Walter Reynolds was very good at Holy Cross. Jeremiah Wood is still in the fold if he's back to health.

It's also a position group that doesn't rely on out-physicalling the guy across from you as much as the at the line of scrimmage. We have several interior linemen in the 270-280 range. Which you can be effective in that range (Landon Cohen was like 275, Aaron Donald isn't much bigger), but you have to be really powerful and/or have sound technique to do so. Do we have enough of those types? So often watching college football, I see those sized linemen go against guys 40 pounds heavier and just get engulfed. It seems unproven to me.

Throw in Miles Flemming, the Minnesota transfer into the mix at Safety as well.

The other thing is that good pass coverage starts with a good pass rush. If the D-line is not good, the DBs will need to be especially good, and conversely, if Ohio finds a solution up front, there will be nothing to worry about in the backfield.

Gorman up to 280 and listed as a DT.

Hopefully those DEs can put some pressure on the opposing QB.

Getting the NFL measurables out there.

In photos he looks every bit of 6'5". I saw a photo from spring ball of him and Winters - who is listed at 6'2" - poor Winters looks like a toddler.
