To be fair I don't think the PAC 12 has much choice if they want to stick around much longer. The folks at Berkeley and Stanford (and UW for that matter) are going to have to wipe the sweat off their collective brows and admit they need to loosen their restrictions on who they let in the conference based on their academic profile. Oregon State is known for their forestry school and plays a chainsaw over the PA system at Reser Stadium for God's sake.
As it stands now they have no schools south of the Bay Area in the entire state of California. THAT'S CRAZY. They'd be better off going strength in numbers at this point. SDSU, Fresno, Boise and CSU are my best bets simply from a football product standpoint plus geographic normalcy, but I'd love to know from a current MWC fan if that fits the bill (leaving out the obvious academic stuff). They don't really "need" UNLV with both football and basketball conference championship games already being played there. That's like the MAC taking on Cleveland State just because they're in Cleveland. I think they really screwed the pooch letting BYU walk over to the Big 12, but that was before we knew about UCLA and USC and there again lies another issue they need to rethink: the Mormon faith.
A lot of people forget this but SDSU has been hella good against the PAC 12 in the recent past. I think 7-5 in the last decade?
