Interesting proposals...but ultimately it seems as if these people's jobs are expendable.

One thing I didn't see addressed is how you convince a current BCS bowl, that they should willingly end their BCS affiliation AND make themselves subservient to the championship game by allowing their representative(s) to be taken away.

I don't see this happening unless there's a barrel of cash going to the present BCS bowls.  The bowls like the degree of certainty that tie-ins provide.  Although it could lead to a playoff system for Div 1A (by making all the bowls available), I doubt it'll happen.  The bowls would wind up in a bidding war to get the top remaining teams, which they won't want to do.
