Could happen.  Coming into tonight, they're 4-2, Toledo is 5-1 and NIU is 6-1.  EMU has Kent and NIU yet to play, but has lost to Toledo.  Toledo has CMU tonight and BSU next week. If EMU wins out and Toledo loses out, both EMU and NIU would be 6-2 and Toledo would be 5-3.  EMU would have the tiebreaker over NIU.  For EMU to go from a perennial cellar dweller to having a shot (although not a realistic one) at the MACC in one season is great.  Maybe the first step in a turn-around.

The fact that this is even mathematically possible blows my freaking mind.  I really hope EMU can win one more to be bowl eligible.  What a turnaround, hope they can sustain it through coming seasons.

Up 13-nil after scoring a TD after driving a short field following a blocked punt. Don't look now, but the Eagles could become bowl eligible today.

Kent State wins and still has a chance to become bowl eligible if it can upset Temple. Otherwise it's another 5-7 season for the Golden Flashes.

Good. I hope EMU doesnt go to a bowl. It does the mac no good for EMU to play in a bowl game and get blown out by 30.

Not much chance of EMU getting a bid.  First, they have to win at NIU, not easy.  Second, I doubt that the MAC's going to have more than 4 bids.  My latest count shows ten spots open and 28 teams vying for them.  Toledo and Temps already have seven wins, with six coming against 1A schools.  Even if EMU gets to seven, it'll only have five vs. 1A schools, so EMU will likely not be chosen ahead of them.  And although EMU lost to Mich & PSU, the others had just as impressive OOC schedules: Toledo had O$U, Boise & Syracuse (should get credit for a win); Temps had PSU, Maryland (win) & Army (win).   Third, WMU should also get to seven -- they play Akron next week -- and BSU would get to seven with a win at home vs. Toledo.  Even though they beat WMU, EMU would be pretty far down on the pecking order.

Bobcat28,

I am sure that people were saying the same thing about us a few years ago when we became bowl eligible. We were close to being beat by 30 against both So. Miss and again against Troy.  If EMU were to become bowl eligible and invited to a bowl game then I would wish them all the luck in the world. I feel that you have to start somewhere. I also feel that any additional post-season exposure would have a positive effect on our conference let alone their recruiting.

If there was a path for gift-bids, EMU to Potatoes would not be the worst thing in the world.

It's not like anybody else would sell a ticket for that game either.

I dont want them to have any glimmer of hope. I'm praying someone with half a brain in the MAC office will kick them out of the league for good so I dont have to see them drag down the conference ranking every year, or watch their football games with 800 people in the stands, or their basketball games with 150 in attendance. They shouldnt be in the MAC or FBS, they should be playing Wabash College on Friday nights.

Of course, if they continue to get better, they wouldn't be dragging the conference ranking down.

The problem, of course, is that English is only 43 years old.  If he continues this success, he won't around long.  I'm sure that some low-level AQ schools may already have a bead on him for their programs.

Yet another team's title aspirations go up in smoke in Kent.
