Would you rather run the table, win the MAC Championship and beat LA Lafayette or some other Sun Belt team in the Go Daddy Bowl in Mobile or lose in the MAC Championship, but beat OSU in the Pizza Pizza Bowl in Detroit?

I know I am in the minority here but beating Ohio State would give me a lot of personal satisfaction for a multitude of reasons.

This may be the toughest poll I've seen on here this season, but I had to go with beat OSU. That would really catch people's attention in Ohio and across the country.

Could there be a situation in which the Go Daddy bowl selects the 2nd place MAC team?  I would love to win the MAC Championship and have a chance at beating the suckeyes in the same year!

Not even close, history will barely remember a MACC, but the first defeat since forever at the hands of Oberlin...priceless.

Excellent poll! I picked the MACC, because osu will stay home on a "self-imposed" one-year bowl ban before they accept a bid to the Pizza Bowl. So if I'm going to get the cosmic gears turning in a direction favorable to the Bobcats, I want it to be a direction that leads to a result that is both favorable and possible.

But, damn, that's a tough choice.

That IS a great poll question! I never thought I'd say it but I value a MACC more than anything. This program needs a banner to solidify it's status and these Seniors really deserve it. It would be the foundation of what we all know the Ohio Football program is becoming!

I don't know why everyone is saying this is a great poll.....this is a joke of a poll.  The pizza bowl gets 8th PICK of the B1G teams. If OSU is permitted to go bowling by the NCAA they would be picked over most of the other bottom dwellers in their league.  OSU has one of the biggest fan bases around and any of the other bowls above the PB would grab them up before Ill or Purdue.

Same goes for the MAC bowls. If we win the MACC we will likely be headed to GoDaddy but loose and Pizza Pizza would prob rather have the rockets or the huskeys (whoever comes in second in the west).

It's not going to happen, but it's interesting to see what people would prefer. For some beating Ohio State would be more special than winning a MAC champinoship and that's kind of intersting.

What I ultimately prefer is winning the MAC championship and a bowl game, don't care which one or who it's against.

This is like choosing your favorite child but to me the goal of the season is to win the MACC.  Whatever that brings, I'll take it.

Haven't seen a MAC title in football, or regular season title in basketball...Since my time following the Cats.  We need to start accumulating conference championships before we think we are anything special.  For whatever reason, I see it as a strong possibility this year and thought it was more of a long shot in 06 & 09.

The Bobcats should keep their focus on winning the MACC and not worry about the prospects of playing and beating an OSU team that is on the way down.

If it is a huge victory over state, I mean something like 20 points and our first bowl win, that would be huge. I want someone to try and deny that!

That reminds me.  Whatever happened to MH55?  He was always here talking all big and bad about the Owls but now he's nowhere to be seen.

Beating OSU would have a greater impact in increasing the fanbase than a MAC championship and the attached no-name bowl against a likely directional.

I'd rather win the MAC title which would be our first since 1968.  Lets get that over first.....then win the bowl game over Joe & Jerry's Perverted State College or that Other State University.

In 2006 the Cats clearly over achieved with the talent level in hand to win the MAC East and nobody thought a MACC was realistic. That team totally relied on its defense to make the MACC much like Temple when they first showed up on the scene as a legit MAC contender. 2007 the Cats go 6-6 but they were noticeably more athletic and that is about when we started popping out all these great receivers like hotcakes. In 2009 the Cats were a more complete team but we up against a CMU at the height of its football program in a year they beat Michigan State. We lost the MACC 20 to 10 but greatly more competitive. As for 2011, since the day Ohio beat Temple on ESPN and even with 3 conference games remaining our chances of winning the MAC Championship inflated to 50%+ higher than what it has ever been at any given point in time. Taking 2011 Bobcat edition up against NIU or Toledo who don't play any defense gives us very good odds.

No question, I want a MAC title.  This year, next year, and the year after.  That's how we gain momentum and keep this program on the upswing.

We've got to take small steps. Too much too fast doesn't have the same impact for a program. Look at Tulane they had that dream season back in 1997 in the top 10 and could never capitalize on it. That is one thing I will say about Solich's offense while its not the most explosive its complexity makes it very effective against the top MAC teams. I'm not sure how much further the Cats can take things on the offensive side of the ball but the defense is only ranked #40 in points allowed, pretty average for D1. Ohio could use a MAC Championship to bring in some studs on the defensive side of the ball.

The poll is moot on so many levels. First many don't realize this but the winner of the MAC Championship has first pick of what MAC affilated bowl they want to attend. Ohio controls its bowl destiny when it wins the MACC. The winner of each division is ensured a bowl after that schools have no control and are left to compete for open slots in the college bowl marketplace. Secondly after a schools order of finish and wins are considered the next order of business is securing the best opponent. The best possible opponent is a Big Ten team in Detroit. The school that wins the MAC would gravitate to Detroit in the Big Ten is playing. This is more what the athletics administration has to be thinking about here; where can we go to play a BCS school. Aside from Detroit (which we have access to winning the MACC) the only other option looks to be the Burke Bowl down in St. Petersburg. Why the game in St. Pete? Conference USA is only projecting about 5 bowl eligible for 6 slots not including Houston which is on pace for a BCS game if they can win out. The MAC #4 selection can go if a spot is open to New Mexico, Birmingham or St. Pete. Birmingham shouldn't be available as the Big East and SEC are going to qualify enough teams. New Mexico is going to be open on the PAC-12 side but last year Ohio made a trade with UTEP for the New Orleans Bowl so I'm not sure a MAC school will actually play there. St. Pete game has one of CUSA's last bowl slots against the Big East so I could see a South Florida-Ohio game a possible if the Cats do not win the MAC. Ohio made an arrangement to play an at-large last year in New Orleans and I would bet the Cats would try St. Pete first before going to Mobile for the rare chance of playing in that game.

Uncle Wes, I think this is wrong.  I've always heard, and the link you provide confirms, that the MAC bowls rotate the right to pick the team they want.  This year it's GoDaddy.  However, they don't have to pick the winner of the MACC if they think the second place team would be a better draw in their area with the opponent they select.
