In case you missed the Frank Solich Show tonight, Russ announced that most likely this Wednesday, the Black Jerseys will be on sale at OhioBobcats.com for $180 each.  These will be the full on, actual game jersey from Russell, not a replica.  Huzzah!

They won't be the game used jerseys; these will be new to you.  They will wear them one more time this season, confirmed on the show tonight.

Wow I'm glad they're going on sale but there is no way in h-e-double hockey sticks that I could afford one of those.

If they aren't game-used, then what # will they be?

please don't wear them for Temple. They don't deserve to be acknowledged as a rival on the level of Marshall or Miami, plus, us wearing black will just be an ego boost for them. Don't treat them like they're anything special.

save it for Miami, we'll lay to rest what looks to be like a dissapointing season for them, black will be approrpriate.

Actually, I'm thinking we wear them against Ball State for Homecoming, as for wearing them against the Auld Enemy well if they can turn it around and get going then I would suggest it, but if not I don't know.

I think this is a great idea. I wouldn't recommend them doing it until after the season is over however, for obvious reason being that they could wear them again.

Xavier does something similar with a throwback jersey auction every year, with game worn jerseys and shorts worn during that particular throwback game. As far as I know, they raise some pretty good $$$ from the auction. I have a feeling some people would be willing to drop some coin for these black jerseys, but I would rather see it in the form of an auction instead of the straight up price of $180.

Here are my options...

1: Stop spending so much Uptown, get black jersey.
OR
2: Continue spending heavily Uptown, don't get black jersey

The choice is simple........  I will no longer leave tips for Athens bartenders..

The jerseys are not worn again until earned:  MAC title game.  If we win that, bowl game.

Ouch, $180. I really want one but that is REALLY expensive for a lowly college students. I could see 70-100 but $180 might just be too much.

I will also throw my .02 into the ring....

$180 is a very steep price to pay for a jersey (not game worn and not autographed by anyone)....albeit a pretty sweet jersey.

I would be shocked to see any college kids wearing this let alone anyone else at this price.

Maybe if it came in a glass frame and was signed by Frank.

Are a high percentage of the proceeds going to the MW Scholarship Fund?  What's the cost to the university when they order replacement jerseys for the team?  I'm trying to get a handle on the economics of this thing.  $180 does seem awfully steep.

Then I hope you're sitting down when I walk by...

Obviously I get that that's way too steep for students, but if it's raising money for the program I'm all for it (hopefully they release some replicas so the students can afford them).  Honeslty it's not out of line for an authentic jersey whether it's game worn (and I'm glad these aren't...I'd hate to see them sell something) the players have waited so long for) or signed, framed, etc.  Just take a look at what an authentic NFL jersey will run you...

I am ALL OVER this!

I talked to someone at the Rutgers game who is friends with one of the equipment managers. He claimed the jerseys would be worn for the Temple game and it's going to be a blackout throughout the stadium.

I actually like wearing them against Temple over Miami, if the blackout rumor is true. Remember that Miami is the last day of finals, so all the underclassmen will have already been kicked out of the dorms and many of the upperclassmen will already be home for break. I want a full student section wearing all black.

Either buy the jersey or don't buy the jersey, we don't need to mentally masturbate over the situation all day long.

+1

Temple in no way deserves that recognition...Regardless of Miami's record at the time, these should be saved for the Battle of the Bricks...

I loved the 3-0 start, but it's hard to buy in when it's against completely sub-par competition.

The Athletic Department is making the jerseys available. I don't really give a damn where the money goes, how its collected, why they are selling the jerseys, or what it has to do with the price of tea in China.

Like I said, either buy the damn jersey or don't. Stop ear banging everyone about it.

Now Marshall is sub-par competition...Where does it end?

Per Sagarin:

Marshall - 102nd
Gardner Webb - 208
NMSU - 151st

These just aren't good teams.

I was excited about the 3-0 start and the possibility of running the table, but beating up on these weaklings isn't all that satisfying after the Rutgers loss. Kind of puts it in perspective.

Even if we would have run the table, our computer ranking would have been so unbelievably bad that we would still would have been relegated to the Liberty Bowl against East Carolina or someone like that.
