He's a dumb oaf.  But, if he beats The Outrageous Swindlers University, he is OK in my book.

Isn't that a violation of OU's trademark?

Should we start calling Ann Arbor Tech "The Hokees" (which could be considered a trademark violation of VATech, but who cares)?

Whatever it is, I have to admit that it is incredibly low class, no matter how you slice it, to deliberately get a foe's name wrong. I suspect that in the process he could offend a lot of people. It's a shame - i used to respect Hoke, and root for Michigan.

He can beat "Ohio" or "Ohio State," "OSU," or "THE Ohio State University" as much as he wants as long as my Spartans keep taking them down. Three years in a row!

It's not really an insult when they call themselves that.  Walk around Columbus and you will see a lot of scarlet and gray shirts that simply say "Ohio".  Even WalMart in the Columbus area has a sign that looks just like above their Buckeye displays.

Doesn't make it right, but it was a Schembechler thing.

Also take a look at the golden trinkets that school up north gives out (available on EBay!) for beating Michigan and you'll see what they call themselves.

It's not worth obsessing over. We're not going to win and life is too damn short to be consumed by perceived slights.

There has to be some smart-ass Bobcat way to respond officially to this. What about sending the Michigan AD a letter (released to the press) saying, "We accept your offer to play OHIO in exchange for a $1 million appearance fee. Given the fee recently paid to reality TV star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi by Rutgers University, this fee seems entirely reasonable given the storied tradition of the University of Michigan and the desperation of your new football coach to beat OHIO."

That's a solid idea.  The Bobcat media office could also print up "beat Michigan" posters for any CMU/WMU/EMU games this season.

And add that it appears they have a scheduling conflict with the date they desire, since they appear to be playing Ohio State on the day the countdown ends.

Perhaps a local newspaper could print the number of days since Ohio's last loss to Michigan.

Approximately 30,502.

That was a great day. I recall Kalvin going for over 200 yds, Justin Fitzgerald taking an end around the distance, and Scott Mayle returning a kick off for TD. Huge plays all day, and Kalvin was unstoppable as can be.

IInteresting that the writer knew enough to put "Ohio" in quote marks (single quotes within the double quotes) but to not do so with "Notre Dame."  Indicating he knew that the player was as ignorant as his coach.

I thought the same thing Doc!

I came across it on FaceBook though and have no clue who the original "artist" is...

Had to dig this thread back up to share this story...

I attended the Michigan/Nebraska game with my dad today, and in the middle of the fourth quarter, the crowd started chanting "BEAT OHIO, *Clap*Clap*Clap-clap-clap"... So I guess it's not just Brady Hoke, it's the whole Michigan nation who forgot who they are playing next Saturday...

I realize you typed this with tongue firmly implanted in cheek, but I think a creative AD could parlay this into a two for one series.

As much as this irks me as well, let me clue you all on something from a VERY reliable source (someone who knows the Hoke family personally)

The reason he uses "Ohio" and not Ohio State is to ruffle Buckeye Nation's feathers not ours. Hoke does not recognize the name Ohio State, the same way Woody Hayes would call Michigan "the School up North"

Don't get me wrong, I dont like it either, and I think we should start saying "Beat Michigan" when OU plays Central/Eastern/Western Michigan.  What's good for the goose is good for the gander....

Then he is a moron. osu fans think of themselves as "Ohio," so they wouldn't be upset at this at all. In fact, they would probably take it as vindication that others see them as the one true official university of Ohio, which all of the Ohio schools (especially OHIO) have tried to discourage.

Someone please clue him in that "OS-Who?" or "Ohio Sucks University" or "Ohio A&M" are much more inflamatory.

Muck Fiami.

I wish I had known what a moron he truly was when I wrote him and asked him to cease and desist in his "Ohio" references to O$U.  I should have suggested his using "Ohio A&M."  Now, that would be really funny!
