Earlier this season, I confessed that I was a Miami grad, who, after living in Athens County for five years, decided to buy the family pack season tickets. I really love live sports, and the tickets were too cheap to pass up.
However, I must admit that I've grown quite fond of this team. I was a neutral observer during the GW game; took a great deal of satisfaction vicariously during the Marshall game (remember- Miami's games with them got really heated and a coach was even arrested in Huntington for punching a fan). I sat on the grassy knoll at the end of the Ball State game and watched the fg go just wide. But, by the end of the Temple game, I was hooked and actually bought the basketball season ticket package.
Now, heading into tomorrow, I'm completely enveloped in cognitive dissonance. I really wanted this game to mean something for somebody, because that would help me decide who to cheer for. Maybe I'll just wear red, so that the espn cameras can show someone who is representing Oxford. If the WMU and Akron games are any indication, they need me more than OU does.
Don't worry, I am sure that dude from Oxford with the old school Redhawks helmet that was at the Ohio/Kant game last year rooting against the Cats will be there to embarrass Preppy Nation, taking the pressure off you to represent.
