Yesterday, LMFAO shared the 110's version of "The Party Rock Anthem" on Facebook. People around the world are seeing the Ohio University name, thanks to this single post more than 25,000 likes, nearly 7,000 shares and more than 2,000 comments: http://on.fb.me/u9GAWF (I ♥ being a Bobcat!)

I was wondering-has there ever been a period in Ohio's 200 plus year history where it's had as much national publicity as it has enjoyed for the last 2 years or so? From appearing on the front front-page of the USA Today when Ohio beat Georgetown in the NCAA's to being on ESPN for football to appearing in Rose Bowl and Macy's Day Parades, PLUS 5 million views of the Marching 110 on Youtube? And that's not even counting all the national coverage of the video of the Blackout Jersey reveal to the football team. As always, it's a good time to be a BOBCAT!!

Ironically, it parallels the most vehement opposition to athletics and other extra-curriculars in OU history.

Me thinks you exaggerate just a tad, dear Jeff.  Even a certain professor of western religions and sanskrit studies hasn't called for an outright ban on football as was heard nationwide on campuses across the fruited plain circa 1905.

The 110 has generated millions of dollars of free publicity for Ohio University without costing students one dime.  But you know, there probably wouldn't be a 110 without a football program for them to display their wares five or six times a year.  The pro rata share of students' activity fees that may be allocated to football admission is well worth the investment.
