^The discount code listed is incorrect.  It is: "mcamcaa".  That should get you the deal on the Marriott website.  I notified our staff but I don't think they ever made the change.

If you're looking for an alternative to the Marriott, try the Hilton Garden Inn.  It is about 1-2 blocks from Ford Field and within walking distance to a Casino and Bars .  Not too dangerous.

All of the blocked rooms are booked for Friday, but I was able to call Marriott reservations during business hours to get the discount.

I've been there three times for Ohio games, but the only sports bar that I remember clearly is Chelios.  Is there another good hangout for the afternoon that would be a little closer to Ford?

Cheli's is about 1000 feet from Ford Field. It would be closer but Comerica Park is in the way. How close do you need to be? :)

OK...I was getting Chelios confused with Hockeytown.  Hockeytown is where I went and it was a little longer walk.  I will have a guest with me who doesn't enjoy walking much.

There's a place called the Elwood Bar & Grill which is across from left field at Comerica and caddy corner from FF.

For past championship games and the bowl game, my little group has always gone to the Detroit Beer Company.  Google Maps places it at 3/10 mi. from Ford Field and the micro brews and menu make it a worthwhile walk. We'll be there by 3:00.
