Not sure if this has been brought up yet.  Beau Blankenship???  Anybody know why we wouldn't have him out there?  The whole season Harden is splitting time with Beau and Boykin.  I thought Blankenship was that 3rd down type of RB that got us some huge first downs this season.  He could have helped burned some clock last night.   I'm not going to ask for the heads of our coaching staff like most people on here...but seriously...  Anybody know if he was hurt?  This just seems really odd to me.

Truthfully, Boykin has been MIA for the last few games, and I don't know if another back even got a carry yesterday. Problem is that Harden was getting nothing between the tackles. and we kept doing it. Again. and again, and again. We were at least giving ourselves a chance to pick up yards outside the hash marks. We were committed to three plays the entire second half... deep ball, Harden up the middle, Tettleton scramble. No misdirection, no short passing game (which was critical because NIU's d was eating our offensive line for lunch). I don't remember a game where Tettleton had so little time to throw... NIU's "horrible" defense was in our backfield all night. All. effing. night.

Buster:  I brought up the same thought earlier today on another thread:

I like Donte Harden and I agree he is our most talented running back. Donte, also ran very hard last night and I have no questions about his effort last night. But somebody please explain to me no carries by Boykin or Blankenship?

Donte has been playing with a bad hamstring and I would think healthy or dinged up, a change of pace by mixing in Boykin and/or BB could have helped.

How come we only threw one time to Riley in the second half which was caught for nine yards? He has great hands and a few short passes underneath the coverage with some deep routes by LB could have mixed things up a bit, and also run the clock with short pass completions that don't stop the clock.

I was asking myself the same questions in the second half last night:  Where's Blankenship?  Where's Boykin?  I told some folks around me that I thought we'd be bringing them in for some grind-it-out yardage.  Though Harden can be more explosive when it gets past the initial block, the other two had shown more ability at times to drag tacklers for additional yardage.  Last night the OL was not able to open many holes big enough for Harden to get through.  On good days sometimes the B boys don't need holes, they make their own.  I'm probably all wet here, but those were the thoughts going through my head as I watched things unfold last night.
