With all the build up and hype for this game, what an absolute buzzkill against a mediocre SDSU team.

The drop off from Kurtis to CJ is...welll...you already know the answer to this. It just sucks to start the season off this way.

I'm actually surprised how well the defense played. Also of note, Torrie Cox didn't play even though they showed him on that starting lineup graphic.

Albin needs to go back to the drawing board at the QB position

CJ Harris 18/42 1 TD 3 INTs

Good god, give Navarro a chance. He can't be this bad with all the weapons we have at WR and TE

Hopefully Mrs. Harris didn't turn it on to see CJ throw it an INT into the middle of the field, into about four black jerseys... 15 yards short of the endzone anyway when they needed a TD.

Honestly, if CJ wasn't so bad Albin might really have to answer for this game. I understand CJ is limited in everything, but to go away from the run entirely is just bizarre. 3rd and 1... pass? LOL

You’ll be hard-pressed to find another college football game the rest of the season where both teams were coached so horribly from start to finish. On to hoops season.

TBH it's amazing that we still had a chance to tie it considering how bad things went once Kurtis went out of the game. Like I'm not saying we are cursed but it definitely makes you wonder.

That one was a rrrrOUgh one to watch after the 1Q. Baffled by Fox’s inability to report on Rourke’s injury

Has Harris ever had an eye exam?

Hoke the Joke tried to give us a gift at the end, but we could not take advantage of it. CJ looks brilliant on some plays, and like a QB I remember who played for the Nelsonville Greyhounds back in the 1960s and was good at tackling himself by stumbling over his own legs.

Harris: completed 42% of his passes (bad) and threw 3 picks (very bad). Horrible game but take away any one of those 3 interceptions and we have an outsized chance to win that game.

Also; worst onside kick attempt I've ever seen.

When you look at the stats it simply comes down to the turnovers. What a missed opportunity.

First Downs
Ohio - 26
SDSU - 15

3rd Down Eff
Ohio - 7/17
SDSU - 4/13

Total Yards
Ohio - 380
SDSU - 309

Turnovers
Ohio - 3
SDSU - 1

Thought the defense played very well until they got tired. Doesn’t appear we are very deep there. RBs we’re great but space was limited once they knew Harris couldn’t throw. Did feel like a few really bad missed calls but I think my bias always gets the best of me there.

There was a ton of good in this game especially on defense and the offensive line as these dudes played their hearts out. That being said, a lifetime of close moments and near misses gets really old. CJ Harris on the whole did not play up to par at all but OUr receivers need to be better too. And knowing where the opponents only option in the passing game is would be cool.

The difference in this game between a win and loss was crystal clear: we could not convert around the endzone while san diego state did.

Ohio made throws into the endzone four times, not converting any for TDs. On play one, Rourke and Wiglusz were literally a few inches from a touchdown. The read was right, Wiglusz was open but the ball was thrown behind.

Miles Cross was thrown a ball in the endzone twice which were not the easiest catches but he came down with neither. Got to get at the very least one of those.

On around the 30 yard line, Wiglusz beat man coverage by about 7 yards but Harris, admittedly under some pressure, overthrew him by 10 yards. Not even close

Two of the few things on defense that were a painful mystery occurred in the redzone where Ohio lost track of san diego state's only passing game threat, that TE, who caught two touchdowns.

I give Ohio credit for a spirted effort but this is another we could have won but didnt Very frustrating

We're on the road, 2,000 miles from home. We were never going to win the penalty battle.

Also gotta think the defense was getting kinda tired after watching so many missed opportunities by the offense. Momentum goes both ways and after Kurtis got hurt, it was obvious that our defense tried to make up for it.

Also, F- on the broadcast for FS1. While they managed to play 4,000,000 commercials, no-one behind the scenes used that time to effectively find out the status of Ohio's best player who left injured in the first quarter.

Agree. The defense was generally very tough and good. We constantly let the wind out of the sails by an offense that did not convert opportunities in the redzone

This is a great point. After Rourke went down, the o-line and Bangura and Allison really took over.

What did I say about coaching? Just atrocious. The pass on 3rd and 1? Make it make sense? On to hoops season.

Bangura should’ve had 34 carries to Harris 2 passes. I don’t get it. Bangura and Allison were owning them. We let them in the game by trying to run the air raid with a QB that can’t pitch it 3 yards. Bad coaching.

From Steve Helwick (Twitter/X)

Ohio head coach Tim Albin on Kurtis Rourke:

“Kurtis wanted to go back in, but we’re gonna take him back to Athens… an X-ray maybe. I’m not too concerned about it at this time. He’s upset with us… wanted to play it safe.”

Wouldn’t specify the nature of the injury. He said Kurtis had a limp, that there would be X-ray, but claimed the X-ray wasn’t necessarily on the leg.
