I read Muschamp wasn't even told he was interviewing. Makes you appreciate our staff even more.

I live in Kansas and I think it is a funny hire. They fired Mangino several years ago and we called him "The Fat Man" and "The Buda" Charlie will get a few new names I would guess.

All fun aside, it is a bad hire. Bill Snyder is going to own Weiss as is the rest of the league.

But, he's a good friend of Frank's.  Maybe we can set up a series with Kansas and own him too!

Let's see...Weiss fell a tad short of his own lofty expectations at ND.  At Florida the offense fizzled.  Wonder what Kansas folks were thinking when they offered him?

They were probably thinking, "Sweet!  We can save some money because we still have an entire closet full of Mangino's clothing."

You guys are all wrong about this (not surprisingly). It's a great hire. He did fine at Kansas City as Haley's Offensive Coordinator, or do you forget they made the playoffs and won the AFC West last year? KU needed a "name" to repair the unbelievable damage done by Turner Gill and his staff, and Charlie Weis is a name. At a minimum he wins recruiting battles that they never had a sniff at in the past. At best, he gets them back to the top of the heap in the Big 12. It wasn't that long ago that KU and MU played as 1-2 at Arrowhead with Musberger and Herbstreit calling it. I would certainly take Charlie Weis over Dave Doeren, Dirk Koetter, and the other questionable names they were considering. I don't know the financial details, but I'm sure they got him at a relative bargain with ND still paying a hefty sum to him.

Colorado dropping out of the Big 12, Baylor surging, Kansas State with Snyder back, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma playing top-5 level football, Missouri continuing to excel (though, apparently the KU/MU rivalry will end when Missouri joins the SEC next year), WVU joining the Big 12, and then there's Texas...Kansas will be losing a lot of games in the future no matter who their coach is.

On the plus side, though, they'll have an awesome schedule.

Hmmm...One good year as a pro assistant...sandwiched between mediocrity as a HC at a power program and a season as a mediocre OC at another power program...You clearly do have a different perspective, Aaron.

To me Weiss seems long on hubris but short in on-field success.

We'll see how he does at Kansas...

Agree he is about as good as they could get.  Unfortunately, his recruiting "prowess" didn't translate to wins at ND, so with less resources and a poor recruiting territory, he will struggle against expectations (but do well for,,,well for Kansas).
