For regular season attendance, yes. For bowls, no.

Tickets sold are tickets sold when they are talking about accounting for bowls. Anyone who gets comps or buys tickets from other sources does not get counted into the official bowl ticket sales.

Ohio has budgeted the cost of bowls so it shouldn't be a shock to the system. In fact, I think the Boise deal will be better for the budget than New Orleans or Detroit due to the way the bowls pay the schools. I think we could sell 0 tickets and still not lose any money, which is probably why the MAC has a tie-in for Boise. BTW...seems like everyone is having a great time there.

I was under the impression student tickets were NOT free and everything else was.

Perhaps. I was a student long before this, but the following link seems to suggest the ticket was free, not the trip. I can't find anything else in a cursory search to suggest otherwise.

I think the free student tickets were for those who arranged their own trips down to New Orleans.  I was under the impression that the university bought and sold 450 or so tickets at $40 each and then footed the bill for the buses and hotel rooms.

AS I rember we sold about 200 tickets(something like 186 sticks in my mind) to New Orleans last year so 100 sounds about right.  I'll say what I said last year, until we travel better, we can't be taken too seriously by the general public, 7 or 8 TV games or not, and we have a pretty tame fan base.

I'm not saying you're wrong Chick, but if my memory serves, I thought they had to halt entry into the Bobcat bash at 200. I would be surprised if it was <200. (and I'm sure we could find out officially) Regardless, your comment holds that the fan base is still in a growing stage. Long ways to go.

The operative word here is sold. You are right about the Bash, except that many people at the Bash did not buy tickets to the game, because they had comp(staff, parents, etc) tickets.  The students did not buy tickets as I recall, but paid mostly for the transportation with the tickets thrown in. I was in town for parts of 3 days -and except for game day -most people with green on were Band Members.

I recall something like $10,000 in ticket sales for Ohio and that's where the 200 number came in.  My memory may be a little rusty, but when the dollar amount came out, I was amazed it was so low.
Sorry, Youngstown I didn't see your post.  I'm saying that the university buying tickets for the students doesn't count in my number sold as there is no income involved.

One thing to keep in mind, and the conference deserves proper credit for, is that the bowl payout for Boise does not rely on any tickets sold to received in full.

I've seen this mentioned elsewhere. But I have not seen any mention of the budgeted bowl allowance that has covered past financial losses regarding bowl travel.

The weather looks good and USU appears to have sold a lot of tickets.  The Potato could look like one of the "fuller" stadium non BCS crowds.

I'm not going by sales numbers, I'm going by butts in seats.  I was there and the lack of Bobcat green was an embarassment considering it was OUr first bowl game in 38 years.

Odd...  I was in Mobile...I thought OHIO had a decent turnout.  I certainly wasn't embarrassed.

I would have enjoyed going to Idaho and would have tried if it were after Christmas.  Having bowl games before Christmas is just too difficult to work around due to short-time to plan flights during busiest travel season.  People have to cancel family/friend holiday gatherings and many people already have time off during the Christmas break of Dec 24th thru Jan 2nd and trying missing more work is just an additional pain.
