Good thing nobody actually listens to some of the posters on this site about two weeks ago.  Otherwise, Albin, Solich, and a number of other coaches wouldn't have been able to participate in Ohio's first bowl win ever!  Go Cats!

Before I respond in full, I'm going to use the entire pre-snap clock, bumbling around.  Then, I'm either gonna take the play=clock=expired penalty or take a timeout--on my very first play on offense of the second half.

I appreciate what Albin has done this year, the first in the new offense.  But can we get a freaking play in to the QB to begin the second half?

Monroe,
How did I know you'd be the first to respond to this post?  Crack a beer and enjoy the win!

This. Tonight is not for fighting. It is for celebrating. Wizard of Oz is on TNT, and that's a great movie to watch while hammered and feeling good. Trust me.

No.

The crack about me being first to gripe--well, I take that as a compliment that I can see reasonably objectively and know what we can and should achieve.

I know that USU is a decent team.  But look how we played for much of the season.  Take the big W against temples for instance.  We play then with gusto and blazing.  Contrast the timidity and lack of confidence for the 2nd half of hte MACC and much of today.

Confidence.  Tim Tebow is not about football skill.  He's about being who he is, keeping his identity and doing his thing.  Now, if we'd've come out on offense in our best identity--the hurry-up--I've a strong belief that things are different today.

We scored our first 10 points when we switched primarily to the hurry up.  We got rid of the TT lifting his leg, the looking to the sideline, etc  and barely getting the ball off before the clock expired.  We got into hurry-up mode and we rolled.  See, if we do that from game's start, I think that we get up and USU, being a running team, is on its heels.  Our offense only started doing what it's best at late in the 2nd quarter.  Why?

We struggled to beat a 7-5 team.  Sure, they were on a roll at season's end.  But today doesn't give me hope that we can beat ANY TEAM THAT WE PLAY.  I saw this season that we can play at ANY TEAM level.  If we play our confident game.

We didn't play our game today.

Oh.  They passed for 96 yards.  Ya think we might have helped ourselves on defense if we'd've packed the box tighter and blitzed some?  Some of those blitzes would've disrupted their running game.

For almost the entire game we, again, played without fire and confidence.

Things worked out in the end and we got the Victory but, who in their right mind has their QB in the shotgun when you need 6 inches to score. Line up behind center for a quick count. like I said it worked out, but it almost cost us the game.

I totally agree, there is no reason not to have 10 or 12 basic plays to run from under center including a Victory formation play.

My understanding is when a team run shot gun all season you do not line up under center for just one or two plays.  You have a better chance at an exchange issue when you change the normal play.

As for Albin- the offense is not perfect.  I have never seen a perfect mistake free offense even in the NFL.  I have however just witnessed the greatest production offense in more than 100 years of Ohio football.  Thank you for the best coaching staff in the MAC.

Dublin Cat...you are right on.  This is college football, played by young student athletes.  It is not the the NFL. !   Our kids and coaches busted their butts to bounce back from a major dissapointment in Detroit and I am proud as hell of all of them....especially the seniors....Noah, Lavon, etc etc !!   We have the best coaching staff in the MAC, not even close!  We have stability that nobody else in the league can even approach !

Why didn't you apply for the Fresno job.  Tom B might have hired you with all your experience.  Tim might have a position for you.  Just kidding!!

Enjoy the win, the season is over.

Hey, Geekzer, what are you suggesting? The only logical point is that Wyoming was a very mediocre 8-4 team going into the game with Temple ... and that Utah State was a decent 7-5 team ... or what?

Maybe that Utah State destroyed  Wyoming on October 8, 2011 score:  Utah State 63 Wyoming 19?

I think he's suggesting that quite possibly Utah State was a better team than Temple. Note that Utah State also only lost to #23 Auburn by 4, 42-38.  They were a team that played very, very well at times, and I would suggest, played very well against Ohio.

geekzer, good to see you are still around.
