I was wondering if anyone knew when next years football schedule will be posted? I am interested in seeing how things will fall with the addition of UMASS to the MAC and who the Bobcats will play from the MAC West.  As far as I can tell OUr three biggest games (Marshall, Temple and Miami)  will all be road games.  And Buffalo or Akron will be our homecoming game, but beyond that does anyone have any thoughts on how next years schedule will play out?

I know, but other universities have almost complete schedules posted for the next 2-3 years.  Only thing missing is the time of day.  Also will UMASS be added to the MAC East and BGSU pushed back to the West just for Football?

UMass will be in the east although not yet announced, and no details on home or away in 12, and our west matchups will most likely be at Northern and home to Western.

The Mac is a little slow when it comes to schedules. I can't wait to see the schedule to . Want to come to a game the week the huskers play the nuts.

While the larger conferences often have schedules up several years into the future, the MAC has pretty reliably put out the conference slate in mid-February to early-April.

And with all the realignment, the forward-looking schedules in major conferences seem pretty pointless, anyway.

What we theoretically know, depending on how divisions shake out with UMASS (BG to the West for football, maybe?), is that we're due for the following:


@ Kent
vs. Buffalo
vs. Akron
@ Temple
vs. BG
@ Miami

It's somewhat silly trying to predict crossovers until the divisions are cleared up, but if I had to guess, I'd go with vs. Western and @NIU.

I wouldn't put it past the MAC office to try a more creative format to the new divisions than what most fans are expecting though I would have to assume Ohio will end up in the same division as Temple with a rivalry building between the two schools in football. One idea for the MAC is to place UMass and Temple in opposite football divisions and redo the divisions for all sports. The division with OHIO could have NIU, Ball State, Bowling Green, Miami, Akron, Ohio, Temple while the other division could be WMU, CMU, EMU, Toledo, Kent State, Buffalo, UMass. This way when basketball reduces back to 12 there is no need to switch the divisions back around. I would feel bad for Bowling Green having to play in different divisions in different sports making in confusing on the fans. I would also love to play NIU and Ball State in basketball for recruiting in Indiana and Illinois.

At Penn State, Marshall, Kent, Miami and Temple, Throw in a probable trip to NIU and you are looking at a brutal road slate.

I am going to say it here but I think its time to dismiss MAC East competition. OHIO has a record of 15-3 against MAC East competition since 2009. Against the MAC West the Cats are 3-4 since 2009. The Cats do not have a tradition of going through MAC play undefeated (like Boise through the MWC for example) so I figure a 7-1 regular season next year with a loss against WMU or NIU. If Ohio can whip Marshall 44-7 at home I think they'll be able to at least pull out a win next year in Huntington. If Ohio can smash NMSU by 20 on the road as they did last season I think they can do it again in Peden Stadium. With the pass rushers added to the program for 2012 I think we can get it done in Happy Valley. I'm thinking 12-1 regular season with a BCS bowl appearance (don't expect a win here though).

Is this serious or just optimistic? I tend to agree, but I'm hopelessly optimistic. The past few seasons we've consistently had about two more losses than I though so I'm going with a 10-3 regular season and a bowl win to put us at 11-3. I'd say the additional losses will be @Penn State and a let down game against a team we should beat.

I don't see this happening at all.  UMASS will be put in the same side as Temple because it just makes sense for them to play each other every year.  And BGSU will be pushed to the west, like it was when Marshall and UCF were in the east in the early 2000's.  And when basketball comes around we get to beat BGSU twice instead of just once because they will be in the east for everything else.

What you are saying above is the odds on scenario for how to handle the UMass addition. If Temple and UMass don't play in the same division though they will play a crossover game I'm sure.

Anybody that was predicting over 10 wins for this season wasn't thinking clearly. We were replacing our QB going into 2011 and to quite honest did not have the tradition that warranted a 12-2 prediction which I noticed many of them going back into last August. My prediction was 10-4 (correct), victory in the Potato bowl (correct) over Nevada (incorrect), losses to Rutgers, Buffalo, MACC (correct) and CMU (incorrect). 2012 is a different deal knowing T2 the most prolific passer next year in the Mid American Conference. There is no reason why 12-1 couldn't happen next season. Those games we dropped to Buffalo and Ball State were both by a very small margin with a young QB so yes I very well think OHIO can do better than the usual inexplicable losses to lessor competition. A business as usual 8-10 win type of prediction though is perfectly understandable but I am serious about the next level for 2012.

 Tougher road schedule, loss of leadership, loss of best players on either side of the ball = slow start with a little patience required on our part.  This is me being reasonable.  Now I also feel the younger players have even more upside than the graduating seniors. Ohio should continue to see higher highes and higher lows.  I will be satisfied if next season's squad is playing to the level of the 2011 squad by the end of the season.  I don't expect it at the beginning.
