Every July I buy Phil Steele's College Football Preview and it becomes my annual toy.  I "play" with it during the season, recording scores and following Phil's predictions.

With no college football last night, I took a look at Phil's predictions to see how accurate was his crystal ball.

* He pretty much nailed his SEC predictions.  He had Alabama and LSU finishing 1 and 2 in one division and Georgia and South Carolina 1 and 2 in the other.

* He also nailed Conference USA, picking Houston and Tulsa 1 and 2 in the West and Southern Miss 1 in the East.

* He didn't do badly with his MAC predictions.  He had Ohio and Temple 1 and 2 in the East and NIU 3 in the West (after Toledo and WMU).

* But he really blew his Sun Belt predictions.  He had Troy (3-9) 1st, FIU (8-5) 2nd, LA Monroe (4-8) 3rd, Middle Tennesse (2-10) 4th, Arkansas State (10-3) tied for 4th aaannndddd LA Lafayette (9-4) last.
