Former UC great and Bengals one-year wonder Greg Cook died.  Injuries did in Cook and his injury and trade indirectly led then-OC Bill Walsh to explore the West Coast Offense as we now know it.

More to this message board's interest, Cook threw for  554 yards against the Bobcats in the 1968 game.

SI's charming take on the 1968 Ohio football team and Ohio's 60-48 win over UC, including Cook's exploits from that game: sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1148048/index.htm

It is also true that the mod-in-moderation dress of Ohio students, plus their casual attitude toward four-letter words in the campus newspaper, their enthusiastic attendance of dormitory "teas" that feature 3.2 beer as the main drink and their general high-spirited interest in football games would indicate a fairly cosmopolitan balance of interests.

Sorry to hear about Cook's death.  I still remember the stories about the tragic death of his father.  His father was killed in an automobile accident.  He was driving up an exit ramp on a freeway.  I believe alcohol was involved, but my memory is a little dim on that aspect of the story.

I'd love to find a way to watch the game film from this tilt.  Sounds like it was a fun game.

Maybe one day when they create the Mid-Am Network we can watch it on MAC Classics?

Oh wait, probably won't ever happen.
