Our fair share of that amount would help immensely in funding our IPF.

So the Big East losing WVU gave them 20 million dollars and a logistical nightmare that will be very hard to fix by this coming fall.  Give the MAC 10 million on Temple's behalf and the Big East still nets 10 million and no logistical nightmare.  MAC nets 10 million and no Temple fans.  Boom, done.

The Big East was not willing to pay $10M for Boise St. to leave the WAC 1 year early. Maybe they'd go to $5M for Temple but probably not more than that.

Why should the Big East pay that fee, anyway? I'm sure Temple would be happy to pay to escape the MAC, and even pay the Big East for the opportunity to be included.

I shall miss Temple.  I know Ohio took the last three, but I'm not boasting.  The last three games vs Temple cannot be topped in Bobcat modern football history.  Those were totally outstanding games and will be extremely difficult to replace--it was Ohio's Big East Showcase--educated football fans know Ohio has Big East talent on the field and on the sidelines.  Ohio competed, Temple brought the best out in Ohio and outside of Marshall, it looks glum to replace that excitement.

I don't see how scheduling should be a problem. One should assume(of course we all know what assumption is the mother of) there has always been a plan b in case this happened. That is probably one reason why it has taken so long for the 2012 schedules to come out. As mentioned before all that has to be done is rework the schedules with umass substituted for temple. This is still a 13 team league just like the last 5 years.

I've heard the money would be reserved for bowl game ticket requirements.

I guess they could set it up the buyout money to endow funds for future bowl games. If its 5 million that might be able to generated 500,000 worth of tickets and if the requirements for ticket purchasing are generally in the magnitude of 2,500 tickets about 100,000 would cover the cost of a lower tier bowl at 40 dollars per ticket.
