Where does the FAU game stack up in our history? Some others that stand out to me:

-2013 at Akron. A ridiculous number of sacks and a fumble return TD (Ingol?)

-2022 at WMU. We did get burned on one deep ball, but six turnovers forced, bunch of TFLs and crushing hits. The highlight package is a thing of beauty: https://twitter.com/OhioFootball/status/1581824401837727745

-2004 vs Buffalo. Shutout and two defensive TDs

-2005 vs Pitt. You know the story

1962, Peden Stadium: 12-6 over the Redchickens. All FGs scored. Neither team got to paydirt. Best defensive game I've ever seen in person.

The 27-0 shutout of SDSU in the 2018 Frisco might be the next best one, but that I only saw via the tube.

In that 1962 game came a week after Miami had upset Purdue 10-7. One of our FGs was one I'll always remember: it hit the left upright, then bounced on the horizontal bar and went through for the score.

First half against Kansas in 2016 at their place. They had like 35 yards at halftime and we even had a safety against them. They did return a kickoff for a long TD, but later we recovered a kickoff fumble.
I think they got 1 first down.

This talk has me thinking of a question related to team defensive stats.

Do scores by your opponent's defense and/or special teams count toward your average points allowed by your defense. I don't think it should but I'm not sure about the official stats.

I think typical stats just show the number of points scored against a team, in any manner. However, I'm sure you can find a "defensive points allowed" if you wanted to.

OU's Current Defensive Rankings:
14th in total yards allowed.
14th in rushing defense.
25th in scoring.

Can't say enough about the play of Houston and Thompson. Pretty sure Bryce is still Top 5 in the country in tackles. Austin Brawley is tied for 3rd in the country in INT.

How about the play of Buell (spelling?) #0... I feel like that dude was in the QB's face every single play. We haven't had disruption on the line like that since Basham.

DB are flying around and making plays.

Honestly, I'm impressed top to bottom.

Really wish we had an impact DE like a Basham to really hammer it home, and generate consistent sacks but everyone seems to be playing well and the depth seems stronger than in years past.

If half a game can count, I nominate the 2012 second half at Penn State that Ohio won 21-0 on the way to a 24-14 win. PSU's last play from scrimmage was an Ohio interception.

Pittsburgh at home, Defense won the game with two Dion Byrum pick-6's, and the defense kept that offense in check all night long, against a P5 team.

Two plays from that nationally televised Friday night game stand out to me, the first play of the game and the last.
Pitt went up 7-0 on a game-opening kickoff return touchdown. I'm sure I wasn't the only one in Peden thinking, "uh oh, here we go again." The game ended of course on the pick 6 by Dion in overtime.
A walk-off pick 6 if you will.

I was there with my late wife Lynne. She wasn't an ardent football fan, but when Dion crossed the goal line for the win, she was high fiving everyone within reach.

vs Marshall where the D shut them down with a pretty good Marshall QB at the helm.

This best half of football has no equals--period. Because of level of importance. First half of MAC Championship vs Northern Illinois.
