The real metric should be non-conference strength of schedule since that is the only thing over which you control. Probably still not high but a better measure.

And in an apparent  minority opinion, the real, real metric is actual wins, losses and results and when OUr team wins a division title in thrilling fashion, plays in the conference championship game, is invited to and wins a bowl game, I'm pretty happy.  If that is not sufficient happiness for Mr. Love, I'm sorry for his pain.  I had fun.  Let's do it again.
