Ya.. Pretty sure that roster has a lot of mistakes.

Many of the guys listed as freshman (Crutcher-Fisher) are really sophomores since they played as true freshman.

Not Doc, though you seem to be right.  Class not projected, and more important to me is the ht./wt. information.  Can we figure out if these are spring numbers?

Remember that the athletic budget is small, and they don't have the staff to keep everything up at the same time. There has been a lot of focus lately on basketball, for some reason.   You have to go back to 2008 to find the last time they updated the heights and weights in the Spring, this isn't unusual. In 2008 they didn't even update the weights in the fall. I'm not really worried about that - we don't really need to know the weights, anyway. They also, for whatever reason, never seem to issue a Spring depth chart, which is something we, as fans, would love to see.

My hope they can get the players that are gone off the list, and get the new walkons onto the list, plus they should get the classes right. I think that's a reasonable expectation for the Spring roster.

I'm sure the kids weigh in before they start winter conditioning, and at the end of it, and many other times a year like the start of spring and fall camps, so it's not like the data isn't there. Sure, if the athletic department had a much bigger budget they could update the weights 3-4 time a year, and some schools do. But really, does that really help us as fans? So long as the staff has current data, that's what matters. As fans, just tell us who is going to be practicing with the team this Spring, and most of us will be happy.

As people have mentioned, Snyder and Fulcher are included on the list, and shouldn't be. Most springs we have seen an influx of new walkons trying out, but as it stands at the moment, there aren't any new names on the spring roster. Then there are people that are listed in the eDirectory that we were expecting on the Spring roster, but who aren't listed:
Grant Venham - Punter
Tim Edmond - LB
Brian Albrecht - DE/WR

I don't notice any further changes to the roster since Friday, so I will make some comments, I guess:

First, there are always a lot of walkon changes in the Spring, and the roster doesn't really reflect them. Using information from the Messenger, the following are walking on this Spring, but are not on the roster:
Bubba Williams LS, Brian Palermo RB, Chris Tarrant RB, Brian Shankweiler WR,  Clayton Luburgh DL, Mike Sullivan, Shay Netter LB, Storm Timson LB, Art Jordan TE, James Radabaugh TE,
plus I would add Grant Venham, P to that list

The roster correctly reflects that the following have apparently left the program:
Bell and Snyder QB, LaVoie LS

David Fulcher has reportedly left the program, too, but is still on the roster. Joe Morales is listed, too, but apparently will graduate and not be back in the fall.

The following players are not listed on the roster, which may reflect that they have left, or they may be omissions, given the other walkons that are not listed:
Dallas Brown RB, Brian Albrect DE, Preston Oglesbee DL, Jeremy Stump OL, Devin Favors RB, Justin Szink CB, Dale Cotton DL

Also, there are numerous players where I question the class that is listed:
1. These are listed as Redshirt Sophomores, but I think they are Juniors:
Nic Barber, Xavier Hughes, Chris Johann, Sam Johnson, Jon Lechner
2. These are listed as Redshirt Freshmen, but I think they are Sophomores:
Bryce Dietz, Brad Fain, Brian Hairston, Thad Ingol, Craig Luburgh, Blake Jones
3. I know Landon Smith, Crutcher, and Lorenzo Fisher played as true freshmen, but the following are all also listed as Sophomores rather than redshirt Freshmen, and I don't think they played:
Lucas Powell, Mike McQueen, Jacob Welter, Darrius Vick, Kawmae Sawyer, Ian Wells, Devin Bass, Aaron Macer, Ben Russell, Eric Price, Brandon Purdum
4. These are listed as Redshirt Juniors, but I think Seniors
Alphonso Lewis, and the Leftwich twins
5. Other random questions:
Lorenzo Fisher - I think he played, and should be a true Sophomore, but is listed as a Freshman
Andy Fay - was a Junior last year, and a Sophomore the year before, but now is a Freshman
Donte Foster - last year was  Redshirt Freshman, but now is listed as a redshirt Junior, may be true junior, if he played as a freshman
Wade Wells, the new Juco transfer is listed as a Senior - I would be surprised if that is right
Ty Branz - another new Juco is listed as a Freshman - that can't be right
Tyler Knight - listed as Junior, should be Senior, I think

Oh, that's right - I forgot about Foster's year of Basketball, which would count as his redshirt year. I wouldn't be surprised if I made another mistake or two somewhere, too - I did it pretty quickly, plus I don't have access to the real information, so I am sometimes forced to fill in the blanks.
