It will be interesting to see how much that "football mind" is connected to the "football" side of things and where his limits are in compliance with the NCAA sanctions.

In related news, Tressel's UA home has already sold to local car dealer Bobby Layman, Bobby Layman.  Must have been in the works at least a little while.

This is the perfect storm for a resurgence or emergence of a great program if they stay in the good graces of the NCAA.

I figure Bowden to be there four or five years, whether he has success or not.  That'll be just about the time Tressel's show cause expires.  Good timing.

Agreed.  If the new coaching staff can't get turn football around, and Tressel can't get that city/county to to show up, then nobody can.

Akron's President has made a great move.  Everything is going into athletics.  Tressel's main job is to get $$ for new basketball arena.  I bet they have the money by the end of 2012 or early 2013.  Acadamics they have a great Provost Dr. Mike Sherman who understands  the role of athletics and institutional control.  Look out for the Zips..

Hmm . . . I think you may be on to something.

Is Akron's invite to the Big East imminent?

Well, Bowden has to be an improvement over iCoach. Plus, you know they have talent on the team. They have malls there, and the recruits love that.

Are you trying to imply Manley Waller. might have had a poor reason for choosing Akron over Ohio?

He's gone, now.  He may not have left behind a glorious playing career, but we'll always remember his famous words "I'm going to Akron - They have malls."
