I've got a lazy question about the SMU death penalty:
Did the NCAA make their decision during the season and cut it short? Did they make it in the offseason and stop SMU's upcoming season from happening? Or did they give them some sort of year in between to let people transfer and play without scholarship. I'm not really familiar with what happened other than the fact that it happened.
Announced in late February. 50% of players transferred within 6 weeks.
Penalty was 1 year then then the following year no home games allowed, plus restrictions on recruiting. The school realized quickly that they couldn't field a team for the second year so just called it off all together.
