..against Caltech:  http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-dagger/caltech-teams-faces-major-ncaa-sanctions-191456397--ncaab.html

All this time I've been worried about them over-steping thier bounds.  This of couse smells of east coast bias.  If it were MIT, they would have only recieved a stern warning.

I've got a lazy question about the SMU death penalty:

Did the NCAA make their decision during the season and cut it short? Did they make it in the offseason and stop SMU's upcoming season from happening? Or did they give them some sort of year in between to let people transfer and play without scholarship. I'm not really familiar with what happened other than the fact that it happened.

Find Pony Excess to rent. It will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about SMU football in the 80's.

Announced in late February.  50% of players transferred within 6 weeks.

Penalty was 1 year then then the following year no home games allowed, plus restrictions on recruiting.  The school realized quickly that they couldn't field a team for the second year so just called it off all together.

Disgusting or riveting or both?  I can't decide.  Either way, neither Eric Dickerson or Craig James will ever hold any esteem in my eyes, no matter their NFL creds are.

Craig James is running for Congress. His platform seems to be he got Mike Leach fired, even though his son has admitted he made up the closet story: http://withleather.uproxx.com/2012/03/the-key-to-craig-ja...

Pretty sure its more accurate to say that he "ran" for congress at this point. His role in the Leech firing was pretty unpopular. Even if he's not officially out (i can't remember), its pretty clear he's not getting the nomination
