Fall 2013?  I thought it would be more like spring 2013.

Greetings Ohio Athletics Donors and Fans,

You are receiving this email because you made a contribution/pledge to Ohio Athletics to benefit the design and construction of the new campus Multi-Purpose Center. I am excited to announce to all of you that Ohio Athletics has met and surpassed its fundraising goal of $11,000,000 for this project. To date we have raised over $11,158,000 and it’s all because of your support and passion for our wonderful university.

We are currently in the early stages of selecting an architect and hope to get the project out for bid as soon as possible. We anxiously anticipate a groundbreaking ceremony to take place late this year or early next year with a construction completion date of early Fall 2013. These timelines are obviously not set in stone but we are optimistic if everything goes according to plan.

Again, thank you for your wonderful support and dedication to Ohio Athletics! You are the reason this vision has become a reality!

Go Bobcats!

Sincerely,

Ohio Bobcat Club staff

Jim F. Harris, MBA, MSA

How could you have a groundbreaking ceremony late this year (say November or December) and get it open in the fall 2013? Something this large could get built in 6-7 months, including cold weather months with delays?

I think that's a VERY optimistic timetable.

I'm assuming its just going to be a big a** steel building. All prefab. I'll bet if you could house all your supplies nearby it could be done in a few weeks.

Perhaps...anyone know of how long these projects have taken at other schools?

When Akron built their new stadium about 3 years ago it took only a bit longer than a year.  That was a $70MM dollar project.
