There was an article in the local Colorado Springs Gazette about the Mountain West Conference this morning. I can't find it online, but the article said they're very happy with the new make up of the league. They cited geographical reasons, old time rivalries and reasonable travel for athletes as reasons to keep it like it is. They are willing to end up with less TV money under these circumstances. Frankly their reasons make some sense for the MAC too IMO.

There's a lot of words I can think of if I were the commissioner of the MWC and found out Boise State, Utah, TCU, BYU, and SDSU were leaving...very happy is not amongst them. This league went from possible BCS membership to picking up WAC programs with no history. They may be happy about all the logistics and stuff but the competition level went from very high to very low in a hurry.

Well yes, but that wouldn't make for a good press release...nor for a long tenure

Not much they can do about it,much like the MAC. They blinked and the world passed them by.Making lemonade.

Huh.  You'd think they'd want to get to 12 and have a championship game.  Seems weird to me.

Knowing how the MAC operates, they'll probably try to expand with these two teams...

Jeff, the Big East would probably beat the MAC to the punch on admitting these two. They seem to fit the new geographical philosophy of the Big East!
