That's a shame, I thought he was going to be one of our go to guys this year.  Does anyone else think this is a big loss for us besides me?

Maybe the foot injury was just too much but why leave the team?

I don't know the rules for that, but I'm guessing that once he "leaves" the team, his scholarship is converted to a need based scholarship, and that makes room for someone else under the 85 cap. Hopefully he will stay in school and get his degree.

I don't think it's a huge loss since he has hardly played and I have hardly heard of him in any reports from camp or spring practice.

From the sounds of it, he was not physically going to be able to compete in football because of the foot injury.

He was a highly touted recruit when he transferred from Iowa, and there was quite a bit of praise of him during the year he sat out following the transfer. Apparently he injured his foot, and despite surgery, never really recovered, and hasn't been able to contribute much.

That's a shame. That particular injury (Lisfranc) sounds like a real challenge. Like an ACL, it has to do with a twisting motion, in this case the foot. I've been wondering whether advanced shoe technology--that allows for better grip--partially contributes to these types of injuries. When a player plants and turns, if the shoe doesn't twist in the turf, something else has to give.

Just a half-baked theory, but one I've been thinking about.
