I personally don't put as much stock into the win totals because those Peden numbers are from two eras ago (maybe more?). The game, competition, and talent distribution has changed in many ways.

I view Frank as the best because of the program's turnaround during his tenure. A testament to his values, the stability and depth of his teams have grown slowly but surely over an extended period of time. He never relied on a "star" athlete to find success. His teams have been flat out well coached.

I think this program has become so stable in fact, that because of the weak schedule over the next four years, and the rock solid foundation Frank has created, OHIO wins at least 10 games each year from 2012-2015.

I also count his Nebraska coaching career towards his greatness at OHIO. He studied under the tutalige of Tom Osborne (one of the greatest). He's been a coach of the year twice of one of the premier conferences at the time(Big 12). He's coached in a National Championship game.

It's kind of a different debate, but if, let's say, Randy Moss played for OHIO for only one game. Would he be the greatest Ohio reciever? I personally don't think so, but there is some credit to be earned for merely having an association at a position and letting the rest of someone's career do the talking.

Coach Don C. Peden is in his sixth year as head coach of Ohio University football teams and there is nothing but praise for him. He took charge of a team back in 1924 that had nothing to mark it as being above a last place delegation. Within two weeks however, Coach Peden had a team which was fighting for every game and since that time his Bobcats have always been con-
 tenders. He is a graduate of University of Illinois and is the friend of everyone.
